The first flights of the Makkah Route Initiative depart from Pakistan to serve pilgrims

The first flight carrying pilgrims benefiting from the Makkah Route Initiative departed from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan today, bound for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The flight departed from the dedicated terminal at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi and landed safely at Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. This step is part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to provide the utmost comfort and peace of mind for pilgrims to the Holy House of God from the moment they leave their countries until their arrival in the Holy Land.

The Makkah Route Initiative is being developed within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030

is The Makkah Route Initiative one of the leading national initiatives under the umbrella of the Guests of God Service Program, a key component of Saudi Vision 2030. Launched in 2017 (1438 AH), this ambitious initiative aims to transform the Hajj experience. Since its inception, it has successfully served over 1,254,994 pilgrims, reflecting the Saudi leadership's commitment to harnessing all available technological and human resources to facilitate the performance of the rituals. Now in its eighth year, the Ministry of Interior is implementing this initiative in close collaboration with several government entities, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media, as well as the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the Guests of God Service Program, and the General Directorate of Passports, in digital partnership with stc Group.

Service delivery mechanism and facilitation of travel procedures

The initiative aims to provide high-quality services to pilgrims from participating countries, ensuring they are received and all their procedures are completed smoothly and easily in their home countries. These procedures begin with collecting biometric data and issuing Hajj visas electronically, followed by passport control at the departure airport after verifying compliance with all necessary health requirements. Furthermore, luggage is meticulously sorted and categorized for transportation and accommodation within the Kingdom. Upon arrival at entry points in the Kingdom, pilgrims are immediately transported to their accommodations in Mecca and Medina via designated routes, while partner organizations handle the delivery of their luggage to their residences, minimizing any inconvenience for the pilgrims.

Regional and international impact of facilitating the Hajj journey

The expansion of this initiative is of paramount importance and will have a far-reaching positive impact at both the regional and international levels. By reducing waiting times at Saudi airports to mere minutes, the initiative alleviates the burden on elderly and disabled pilgrims arriving from various Islamic countries, such as Pakistan. This advanced level of organization enhances the positive global image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a leader in crowd management and the provision of advanced logistical services. Furthermore, the close international cooperation between Saudi authorities and relevant entities in the beneficiary countries deepens bilateral relations and underscores the Kingdom's pivotal role in serving Islam and Muslims, thus achieving a lasting impact felt by every pilgrim returning home with positive memories of their facilitated spiritual journey.
