With wisdom and effectiveness, the Crown Prince's diplomacy enhances the Kingdom's regional and global standing
These diplomatic successes are not a coincidence, but rather part of an integrated vision and tireless work led by the Crown Prince. Since the launch of Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom has been witnessing a radical transformation in all fields. This ambitious vision aims to build a diversified and sustainable economy, a vibrant society, and an ambitious nation.
Yemen issue
In April 2017, the Crown Prince affirmed during his reception of senior Yemeni tribal sheikhs that the Kingdom views Yemen as a strategic depth for the Arab nation, and that the biggest mistake was committed by the aggression that attempted to harm the depth of the Arabs, the Republic of Yemen, and that the Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the Arab and Islamic countries see it as their duty to stand by brotherly Yemen.
In May 2017, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted the preparatory meeting on recovery, based on a recommendation from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and tasked the Ministry of Finance with organizing it. This meeting was intended as a first step towards mobilizing regional and international commitments to support the recovery and reconstruction process in Yemen in the short and medium term, emphasizing the importance of concerted international efforts and assistance to achieve a dignified life for the brotherly Yemeni people.
In November 2019, in the presence of the Crown Prince, Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed, the Riyadh Agreement was signed between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council.
In April 2022, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a telephone call from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres. During the call, they reviewed the latest regional and international developments and the United Nations' efforts in this regard.
The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for the Kingdom's efforts to achieve a ceasefire between the parties to the conflict in Yemen and for the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
Peace and development efforts
In September 2022, at the Royal Court in Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, the Crown Prince met with Brett McGurk, the US National Security Council's Middle East and North Africa Coordinator; Amos Hochstein, Senior Advisor on Global Energy Security; and Tim Lenderking, the US Special Envoy to Yemen. Discussions focused on developments in Yemen, as well as other regional issues.
In April 2022, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister, also received Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, and members of the Council.
The Crown Prince expressed the Kingdom's support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and his hope that its establishment would mark the beginning of a new chapter in Yemen, moving it from war to peace and development.
In March 2023, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met at the Royal Court in Al-Yamamah Palace with the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, and members of the Council, to review the latest developments on the Yemeni scene, and to emphasize the Kingdom’s continued support for the Council, the Yemeni government and the Yemeni people, and to support all efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen under the auspices of the United Nations, in order to achieve security, stability and development in Yemen.
The Russian-Ukrainian crisis
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced a clear position on the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, based on the principles of international law, and affirmed its support for all efforts aimed at resolving the Ukrainian crisis through dialogue and diplomacy. Under the supervision and guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom prioritized humanitarian aid and development support for the Ukrainian people, stemming from its humanitarian role and global mission in this field. It provided Ukraine with $400 million in humanitarian aid, including food and medical supplies.
In addition, it provided a grant of petroleum derivatives to Ukraine, a crucial contribution given the humanitarian crisis facing the Ukrainian people both within their country and in neighboring states.
On September 21, 2022, the Crown Prince's mediation successfully secured the release of 10 prisoners of war from the Kingdom of Morocco, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Sweden, and the Republic of Croatia. Their release was part of a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.
The mediation received unprecedented international support, with many countries, most notably the United States and the United Kingdom, expressing their gratitude and appreciation to Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his successful efforts in the prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.
The relevant authorities in the Kingdom received the prisoners and transported them from Russia to Saudi Arabia, facilitating their return to their respective countries.
Furthermore, in September 2022, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, made a telephone call to President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation. At the beginning of the call, the Russian President thanked the Crown Prince for his effective and distinguished contributions to the success of the prisoner exchange.
A political solution that achieves security and stability
The Russian President contacted the Crown Prince in March 2022, during which His Highness clarified the Kingdom's declared position on the crisis in Ukraine, its support for efforts leading to a political solution that would end the crisis and achieve security and stability, and affirmed the Kingdom's readiness to mediate between all parties. The
Crown Prince also received a phone call from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which they discussed the crisis in Ukraine. His Highness reiterated the Kingdom's support for all efforts to de-escalate the crisis, its readiness to mediate between all parties, and its support for international efforts aimed at reaching a political solution.
He noted that, out of humanitarian considerations, the Kingdom would extend the visas of Ukrainian visitors, tourists, and residents in the Kingdom that were due to expire during this period for a period of three months, with the possibility of further extension, and that the Kingdom's government was committed to their comfort and safety.
In September 2022, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince received at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, Rustam Omriev, Advisor and Special Envoy of the Ukrainian President, who expressed his country's appreciation for the humanitarian efforts undertaken by His Royal Highness and the Kingdom through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
During the meeting, the Crown Prince affirmed the Kingdom's commitment to supporting all international efforts aimed at a political solution to the crisis and its continued efforts to alleviate the resulting humanitarian impact.
Release of 10 prisoners
On September 21, 2022, the Crown Prince's mediation successfully secured the release of 10 prisoners from the Kingdom of Morocco, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Sweden, and the Republic of Croatia, as part of a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.
On February 18, 2025, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, hosted talks between the Russian Federation and the United States of America in Riyadh, successfully resolving the Russian-American dispute.
On February 20, 2025, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince received a telephone call from President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation. At the beginning of the call, the Russian President expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom and to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for hosting the fruitful talks between Russia and the United States.
The call also included praise for the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and the commitment to developing them across various fields.
On March 11, 2025, in Jeddah, the Kingdom hosted talks between the United States of America and Ukraine, under the direction of the Crown Prince. During the meeting, Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire if Russia complied.
Syria
In May 2025, during an official visit by US President Donald Trump to the Kingdom, he issued a decision to lift sanctions on Syria, following a request from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The Crown Prince
stated that the Kingdom had succeeded in lifting the sanctions on Syria to ensure its territorial integrity and the reconstruction of its economy.
During his address at the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh, the US President expressed his hope that the Syrian government would succeed in restoring security to the country and that the lifting of sanctions would provide a new opportunity for it.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the United States' decision to lift the sanctions imposed on the Syrian Arab Republic under the Caesar Act, affirming that this step would support stability, prosperity, and development in Syria, thus fulfilling the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people.
Syria and Lebanon
In March 2025, under the gracious directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister – may God protect them – the Kingdom hosted a meeting in Jeddah, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense, between the Minister of Defense of the Syrian Arab Republic, Major General (Ret.) Marhaf Abu Qasra, and the Minister of National Defense of the Lebanese Republic, Major General Michel Mansour, and their accompanying security delegations. An agreement was signed, during which both sides affirmed the strategic importance of demarcating the border between the two countries, forming joint legal and specialized committees in several fields, and activating coordination mechanisms to address security and military challenges, particularly those that may arise along their shared border. It
was also agreed that a follow-up meeting would be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the near future.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Ministers of Defense of the Syrian Arab Republic and the Lebanese Republic expressed their gratitude to the Kingdom's leadership – may God support them – and to His Royal Highness the Minister of Defense for the Kingdom's sponsorship and hosting of the meeting, and expressed their satisfaction with the outcomes achieved.

Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect him – to the United States, His Highness requested President Donald Trump to intervene decisively to stop the war in Sudan.
President Trump stated during his address at the Saudi-American Investment Conference, “Resolving the conflict in Sudan was not part of my plans, but Prince Mohammed bin Salman asked me to intervene decisively to resolve the crisis.”
He added that Prince Mohammed bin Salman explained the situation in Sudan to him, describing it as a “horrific war,” and also described Sudan’s history and the culture of its people.
He continued, “After 30 minutes of the Crown Prince’s remarks, I began studying the situation and taking action in this direction.”
