In analyzing this phenomenon, environmental geography researcher Mohammed Al-Masoud explained that Taif is one of the few cities in Saudi Arabia that experiences a rich and complex climatic landscape during the winter. Al-Masoud noted that this climate is characterized by intermittent rainfall that irrigates the slopes of the Al-Hada and Al-Shafa regions, leading to increased water flow in well-known valleys such as Wadi Dhi Ghazal and Wadi Khumas. These climatic conditions directly contribute to the revitalization of seasonal vegetation, giving the area a vibrant and dynamic character that enhances its environmental and touristic value.
Unique geography and its impact on tourism
Taif acquires these climatic characteristics thanks to its unique geographical location on the eastern slopes of the Sarawat Mountains, ranging in altitude from 1,700 to 2,500 meters above sea level. This high elevation makes it a convergence point for air currents, causing clouds to condense and touch the mountain surfaces, creating the "fog embrace" phenomenon for which the region is famous. The Al-Hada and Al-Shafa areas are among the most prominent locations where this phenomenon is most evident, transforming the winding mountain roads and natural trails into cinematic scenes that attract nature lovers from all over.
