Accommodation centers in the holy sites are fully prepared for Hajj 1447 AH

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the completion of preparations for the accommodation centers in the Holy Sites for the 1447 AH Hajj season. This proactive step is part of the comprehensive and approved emergency plans to serve the pilgrims, and stems from the directives of the wise leadership. Four main accommodation centers have been equipped with a total capacity of approximately 45,000 pilgrims, in addition to 11 strategic warehouses containing all the necessary relief supplies to support accommodation operations and rapid field response.
The Kingdom's efforts in crowd management and securing pilgrims have evolved
Historically, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has placed great importance on the safety of pilgrims since its unification. With the increasing number of pilgrims performing Hajj each year, crowd management and crisis response strategies have evolved significantly. In recent decades, climatic, environmental, and geographical challenges have necessitated swift and well-considered interventions, prompting the Saudi government to establish a sophisticated infrastructure, including modern, technologically advanced accommodation centers. This historical development reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to providing a safe and stable environment, transforming emergency plans from reactive measures into comprehensive, proactive strategies that ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims under all circumstances.
Preparing and equipping accommodation centers in the holy sites
The Ministry clarified that the shelters in the Holy Sites are a vital part of the approved emergency system within the general emergency plan issued by decree of His Royal Highness the Minister of Interior. These centers aim to enhance preparedness and rapid response to any emergencies during the Hajj season, ensuring the safety of pilgrims and the continuity of services provided to them. These centers have been established in Mina and Arafat, specifically the Al-Mu'aisim, Arafat (1), and Arafat (2) centers, and equipped with all necessary supplies by specialists in relief and humanitarian aid, in direct coordination with the General Directorate of Civil Defense. These centers are distinguished by providing logistical support services according to the highest standards of safety and operational readiness.
Enhancing field readiness and logistical support
In a related context, the ministry confirmed that its field preparedness system includes providing 15,000 fire-resistant tents, fully equipped from ministry warehouses, for immediate deployment as needed. Heavy machinery and buses with drivers have also been made available, in addition to securing over 12,000 dry meals to be provided to those being sheltered upon their arrival at the centers, pending the provision of main meals. Furthermore, the relevant teams are participating in field exercises and intensive training workshops to enhance response efficiency and expedite handling of various emergency situations.
Strategic dimensions and impact of successful emergency plans
The success of the emergency plans and the readiness of these centers are of paramount importance and have far-reaching implications. Locally, this achievement reinforces the confidence of citizens and residents in the ability of state institutions to efficiently and effectively manage the world's largest human gathering. Regionally and internationally, this early preparedness sends a reassuring message to millions of Muslims worldwide and to countries sending Hajj delegations, affirming that the Kingdom is dedicating all its human and material resources to serving Islam and Muslims. Furthermore, this integrated system, which employs a phased operational escalation mechanism to ensure rapid decision-making and coordination among relevant entities, reflects Saudi Arabia's leading role in crisis and disaster management, making the Kingdom's experience a global model for managing large crowds.
