A new partnership boosts the export of Saudi technological solutions to the world
In a strategic move reflecting the rapid development of the communications and information technology sector, and under the generous patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, a significant strategic partnership agreement was signed between Almatar, a company specializing in travel technologies, and Wakanow, a leading digital platform for travel and tourism services in Africa. This step aims to enhance the presence of Saudi technological solutions in international markets and open new horizons for national companies to expand internationally.
The journey of digital transformation and Vision 2030
Over the past few years, Saudi Arabia has witnessed remarkable progress in digital transformation, driven by the objectives of Vision 2030. This vision focuses primarily on diversifying income sources and reducing dependence on oil by building a robust and sustainable digital economy. In this context, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has worked to develop the digital infrastructure and foster an environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship, contributing to the emergence of national companies capable of competing not only locally but also on the global stage. This ongoing government support is paving the way for cross-border partnerships.
Details of strategic cooperation in the travel sector
Under this new agreement, Almatar will enable Wakanow to offer air travel services to its customers in more than 15 African countries. This move leverages the Saudi company's extensive experience in travel technologies and airline content distribution. It's worth noting that Wakanow was founded in Nigeria in 2008 and has grown to become one of the leading platforms in Africa, boasting a vast network of over 34 travel service centers, in addition to its digital platform serving millions of users daily.
Exporting Saudi technological solutions to emerging markets
This partnership is a direct reflection of the success of Saudi Arabia's plans to export technological solutions to emerging markets, particularly the rapidly growing African market, which is experiencing increasing adoption of technology. Commenting on this achievement, the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Technology, Engineer Mohammed Al-Rabiaan, affirmed that this partnership embodies the maturity and high level of competitiveness attained by Saudi technology companies. He pointed to these companies' ability to develop innovative and scalable digital solutions for global markets, thus strengthening the Kingdom's position as a regional and international hub for innovation.
Economic dimensions and regional and international impact
The significance of this event extends beyond the purely technical realm, encompassing broad economic and strategic dimensions. Domestically, this initiative supports the growth of Saudi technology companies and increases the digital sector's contribution to GDP, thereby boosting non-oil exports. Regionally and internationally, exporting Saudi technology to Africa opens new trade routes and strengthens knowledge and economic exchange between the Middle East and Africa. The Ministry is continuously working to facilitate these routes to ensure the sustainable growth of national companies abroad, solidifying the Kingdom's position as a key and influential player in the global digital economy.
