In a move aimed at enhancing the services provided to visitors of the Two Holy Mosques, His Excellency the President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, inaugurated the volunteer platform of the Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Prophet's Mosque. This inauguration, part of the National Platform for Volunteer Work, represents a significant leap forward in institutionalizing charitable and volunteer work in the holiest of places.
Promoting volunteer work and keeping pace with Vision 2030
The launch of this platform comes within a strategic framework that is fully aligned with the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which places great importance on the non-profit sector and volunteer work. This ambitious vision aims to increase the number of volunteers in the Kingdom to one million annually, a goal the General Presidency for Religious Affairs is working to achieve by opening new avenues for effective community engagement.
During the inauguration, His Excellency Sheikh Al-Sudais affirmed that this step comes in line with the generous directives of the wise leadership to develop volunteer work and activate community partnerships, in order to ensure the provision of the finest services to the guests of God, and to reflect the bright image of the people of the Kingdom in giving and generosity.
Platform objectives and operational mechanisms
The new volunteer platform aims to organize scattered volunteer efforts and transform them into structured, institutional work that adheres to the highest standards of governance and quality. The platform works to:
- Attracting qualified national talents to participate in serving the Prophet's Mosque.
- Providing quality volunteering opportunities that match the needs of the Presidency and the specializations of the volunteers.
- Supporting the scientific and advocacy mission of the Two Holy Mosques through support staff.
- Promoting the values of giving and generosity in Saudi society.
The importance of volunteering in serving religious affairs
Volunteer work within the precincts of the Prophet's Mosque holds particular importance, as its impact extends beyond mere organizational aspects to encompass the spiritual and religious dimensions. The General Presidency for Religious Affairs prioritizes this aspect, recognizing it as a vital contributor to disseminating the message of moderation and balance, facilitating the performance of religious rites for visitors, and guiding and advising them with wisdom and good counsel.
The launch of the platform is a pivotal step towards developing the volunteer work system under the leadership of the Religious Affairs Department, which contributes to achieving institutional excellence, maximizing the religious and humanitarian impact in the Prophet’s Mosque, and ensuring the sustainability of services provided to the guests of God throughout the year.
