King Salman Center distributes winter clothing vouchers in Taiz, Yemen

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continued its pioneering humanitarian efforts in Yemen, with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributing 947 winter clothing vouchers yesterday in Taiz Governorate. This distribution is part of the "Kanaf" winter clothing project, which aims to protect the most vulnerable families from the harsh cold, specifically in the Al-Aifou' area of Al-Mawasit District. A total of 947 displaced persons and members of the host community benefited from this aid.
The distribution mechanism adopted in this project is characterized by flexibility and preserving the dignity of the beneficiaries, as the purchase vouchers enable the targeted families to choose their winter clothes themselves through approved stores, which allows them the freedom to choose the sizes and types that suit their personal and family needs, instead of receiving ready-made parcels that may not always match their specific requirements.
This project is of paramount importance given the challenging geographical and climatic conditions in Taiz Governorate, characterized by its mountainous terrain and sharply low temperatures during the winter. The suffering of the population in these areas is exacerbated by the complex humanitarian situation in Yemen, where many displaced people in camps and remote areas lack heating and warm clothing to protect them from winter illnesses and colds. This makes the intervention of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center a lifeline for many families.
The “Kanaf” project is an extension of a long series of relief and development projects implemented by the Kingdom through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, across various Yemeni governorates without discrimination. This aid encompasses food security, shelter, health, and education, aiming to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people due to the current humanitarian crisis, and to support the stability of affected families, enabling them to withstand economic and living challenges.
It is worth noting that this initiative reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to standing by the Yemeni people in their plight, and underscores the Kingdom’s leading role in international humanitarian work, as it seeks through these seasonal programs to bridge the gap in basic needs and provide warmth and security for the most vulnerable groups, especially children, women and the elderly, during the harsh winter season.
