Hajj Media Forum: Interactive Technologies for Exceptional Coverage

During a government press conference, Saudi Minister of Media, Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossari, announced the launch of the third edition of the Hajj Media Forum. This pioneering initiative falls under the umbrella of the Unified Media Operations Center for Hajj, and the events will take place from the 3rd to the 6th of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH (May 20-23, 2026). The Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Exhibition and Events Center will host this prominent event, in strategic and integrated partnership with 25 entities representing both the public and private sectors. This reflects the significant commitment to developing a media infrastructure that can effectively cover the world's largest annual gathering of people.

The evolution of media coverage for pilgrims

Historically, media coverage of the Hajj season has received significant attention from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for decades. The means of broadcasting this great ritual have evolved from limited traditional radio and television broadcasts to today's vast digital landscape, relying on live satellite broadcasts and modern interactive platforms. The establishment of this forum is a natural response to rapid technological advancements and aims to align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which focuses on enriching the religious and cultural experience of pilgrims. The transition from traditional to interactive digital media represents a qualitative leap that ensures the clear, transparent, and professional dissemination of the Hajj's noble message of peace and tolerance to all corners of the globe.

An integrated environment at the Hajj Media Forum to support journalists

The forum serves as a comprehensive media community and a fertile environment that supports journalists in producing high-quality coverage of the Hajj season. This is achieved through the provision of advanced interactive technologies and supportive media zones equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The events include a press briefing platform and a creative exhibition showcasing the significant transformation in services provided to pilgrims. Among the forum's most prominent areas is the "Hajj Window," which offers visitors a unique visual experience reflecting the spirituality and grandeur of Hajj. Also featured is the "Transformation Exhibition," which presents transformative projects for serving pilgrims in a visually innovative manner, through diverse and creative pavilions representing government agencies and the private sector. In addition, the forum provides technically and artistically equipped studios to facilitate the work of satellite channels and various media outlets.

Strategic partnerships and an interactive media community

The forum also includes the “Media Community,” a dedicated space that fosters a professional work environment, builds relationships, and facilitates the exchange of expertise among media professionals from around the world. The “Transformation Exhibition” features active participation from key government entities, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the General Presidency for Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, the Guests of God Service Program, and the “Aman” initiative. This institutional collaboration reflects a unified goal: to present an image befitting the Kingdom’s efforts in serving the Two Holy Mosques.

The local and international impact of unifying media efforts

The forum primarily aims to enhance collaboration between the Ministry of Media and its affiliated organizations, as well as various media outlets, and to unify efforts through joint press conferences for the Hajj season. The importance of this event and its anticipated impact are evident on several levels. Locally, it contributes to highlighting the tremendous efforts exerted by various government sectors to serve pilgrims, thus bolstering national pride. Regionally and internationally, the forum serves as a reliable platform for conveying facts and presenting a positive and sophisticated image of the Kingdom's highly professional management of millions of pilgrims. The organization of this third edition builds upon the resounding success of the previous two, which attracted over 12,000 media professionals and visitors, and saw the participation of 150 local, regional, and international media outlets, resulting in more than 3,000 media reports. This underscores the global stature achieved by this exceptional media event.
