The competence of Saudi women in the Makkah Route Initiative in Istanbul

Saudi women continue to demonstrate their high competence and active presence in various fields. The role of Saudi women in the Makkah Route Initiative at Istanbul International Airport in Turkey stands out as a shining example of dedication and achievement. This participation is part of a comprehensive system aimed at providing the highest quality services to pilgrims and facilitating their journey from the moment they depart their home countries until their safe and secure arrival in the holy lands of Saudi Arabia.
The Makkah Route Initiative is developing and improving Hajj services
To understand the profound dimensions of this achievement, it is essential to consider the historical context of the development of Hajj and Umrah services. The Makkah Route Initiative first launched in 1438 AH (2017 CE) as a pioneering initiative within the Guests of God Service Program, one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030. Since then, the Saudi Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with various government agencies, has strived to bring about a qualitative shift in the pilgrim experience. The core idea was to complete pilgrims' entry procedures into the Kingdom at their home airports, thus sparing them the inconvenience of waiting upon arrival. Over the years, the initiative has expanded to include new countries and has become increasingly reliant on modern technologies and qualified personnel, particularly women who have proven their competence in crowd management and providing logistical and humanitarian support.
Operational readiness and exceptional female competence
Female staff members directly contribute to welcoming pilgrims within the initiative's terminal at Istanbul Airport, guiding them to designated pathways and assisting them in completing all procedures smoothly and efficiently. This organized presence enhances the flow of movement and ensures no overcrowding occurs, within a well-organized operational environment based on precision and close coordination among all participating entities. Saudi women play a pivotal role in managing the flow of pilgrims and monitoring the implementation of procedures according to approved plans, thus achieving efficient performance, maintaining the smooth operation of all stages, and reflecting the initiative's high level of operational readiness.
Regional and international impact of the initiative's success
The impact of this tireless work extends far beyond the local level, leaving a positive and far-reaching mark on both regional and international levels. By providing a seamless and comfortable travel experience, Saudi Arabia is enhancing its image as a leading nation in crowd management and advanced logistics. Internationally, this initiative serves as a model of bilateral cooperation, with close coordination with authorities in beneficiary countries like Turkey, thus strengthening diplomatic and people-to-people ties. On a humanitarian level, the impact lies in the psychological and physical comfort felt by pilgrims, especially the elderly and women, when they are greeted in their own language with a welcoming smile and have their procedures completed in just a few minutes.
Institutional integration to serve the guests of God
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Interior is implementing this initiative for the eighth year in close cooperation and integration with several government entities, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media. The General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Authority for Endowments, the Guests of God Service Program, and the General Directorate of Passports are also participating, in conjunction with the digital partner (stc Group). Thanks to this institutional collaboration, the initiative has witnessed remarkable success since its launch, serving more than 1,254,994 pilgrims. This reflects the continuous development of the Hajj services system and underscores the Kingdom's commitment to providing the best possible care for those visiting the Holy Mosque.
