Al-Sudais praises the bravery of security officer Rayan at the Grand Mosque in Mecca for saving a person's life

The head of religious affairs for the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, praised the heroic and humanitarian stance taken by the security man at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, “Rayan,” through which he reflected the highest meanings of sacrifice and redemption in the purest places on earth.
This official recognition came after widespread circulation of the story of the security officer who did not hesitate for a moment to risk his life to save another person, in a scene that embodies the vigilance of security men and their high sense of humanity.
Details of the heroic act in the courtyards of the Holy Mosque
While performing his routine duties at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, security guard Rayan noticed a man attempting to harm himself by jumping from an upper level. With remarkable quick thinking and divine intervention, Rayan immediately intervened, catching the man with his body to break the fall and saving his life.
This courageous intervention resulted in the security officer sustaining physical injuries from the impact of the fall, but his action helped protect the other person and prevent a tragedy in the Holy Mosque.
Al-Sudais: A picture that reflects the sophistication of the interaction
Commenting on the incident, Sheikh Al-Sudais said, “I commend the security officer for his humanity and for containing the situation before any harm occurred, reflecting the high level of professionalism and dedication of our security personnel.” He emphasized that this behavior is not surprising from our security heroes who have dedicated themselves to serving the pilgrims and ensuring their comfort and safety.
Integrated security and humanitarian system
This is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a deeply ingrained principle within the Special Forces for Hajj and Umrah Security and all security sectors operating in the Two Holy Mosques. Security personnel receive intensive training that extends beyond security and organizational aspects to include interpersonal skills, crowd management, and rapid intervention in emergencies and rescue operations.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia pays great attention to training the staff working in the Two Holy Mosques, so that they may be an honorable face that reflects the tolerant values of Islam, as they combine security firmness to ensure the peace of worshippers, and human compassion in dealing with emergency, sick, and elderly cases.
Widespread reactions and community engagement
The heroic act of “Ryan” garnered widespread attention on social media and across various local circles, with many considering him a role model of selflessness and courage. This event reaffirms the pivotal role played by security personnel in serving pilgrims, a role that transcends the traditional concept of security to encompass comprehensive humanitarian care, thus enhancing the sense of security for those visiting the Holy Mosque.
