The Kingdom affirmed its continued commitment to support Maritime safety and securityAnd enhancing the resilience of global supply chains, during its participation in the work of the Maritime Safety Committee in its (111) session held at the headquarters of the International Maritime Organization in London.
The Kingdom's delegation, headed by the organization's vice president, explained in General Authority for Ports Captain Yousef Al-Hassan, along with representatives from the Ministry of Energy, the General Directorate of Border Guards, and the National Center for Transport Safety, stated that this participation comes in light of the current challenges and changes in the region, including developments related to the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on maritime navigation and international trade, stressing the importance of integrating international efforts to ensure the smooth flow of maritime transport and the sustainability of supply chains.

Countering threats to maritime navigation

The Kingdom expressed its pride in sponsoring the proposed resolution of the Maritime Safety Committee and welcomed its adoption, emphasizing the importance of its provisions in addressing threats to navigational safety and the well-being of seafarers.
The Kingdom called upon the Committee to take all necessary measures within its mandate. It reiterated its support for the resolutions of the International Maritime Organization's Extraordinary Council, which condemn attacks that threaten the security of global trade, affirming that the Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway and that international law guarantees the right of passage through it.

In this context, the Kingdom reviewed a package of proactive measures and initiatives undertaken by its maritime and logistics system to ensure the continuity of operations. These included activating alternative routes, enhancing transit services, and maintaining uninterrupted bookings from shipping lines.
Efforts also encompassed launching more than 19 new shipping services and routes to bolster maritime connectivity, conducting over 40 workshops and coordination meetings with public and private sector partners, facilitating the movement of goods and containers, and strengthening regional logistics integration.
The Kingdom affirmed its continued commitment to working with the international maritime community under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), contributing to the stability of global trade and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the maritime sector.
