Five tons of spoiled food were destroyed and an unlicensed sweets factory in Jeddah was shut down

Yasser bin Siraj Bakhsh, Director General of the General Administration for Monitoring and Addressing Negative Phenomena, said that the field teams went to the site after receiving reports, where health violations were observed, represented by the seizure of about 482 kilograms of food materials used in preparing sweets and baked goods that did not carry any data or official invoices.
Refrigerators and freezers containing pre-prepared food items without production dates or identifying information were also observed, in addition to quantities of sweets ready for distribution amidst an unhealthy working environment, the spread of insects, and the haphazard handling of food.
5 tons destroyed
Bakhsh indicated that the field procedures resulted in the destruction of all the seized quantities due to their unsuitability for human consumption, with a total weight of approximately 5 tons, and the complete closure of the site by the Al-Aziziyah sub-municipality, in addition to arresting the person in charge of the site and referring him to the competent authority to complete the legal procedures against him.

He added that the campaign was carried out with the participation of a number of relevant authorities, including the Zakat and Tax Authority, Customs, the Ministry of Commerce and Civil Defense, as part of joint efforts to monitor illegal activities and reduce irregular practices.
