Deputy Minister of Environment emphasizes the importance of social responsibility in supporting the integration between economic growth and environmental protection

Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Mansour Al-Mashiti, affirmed that social responsibility is a fundamental pillar in building a balanced and sustainable society, given its pivotal role in achieving integration between economic growth, environmental protection, and community service. He pointed out that adopting impactful initiatives contributes to enhancing community awareness and its ability to confront challenges and ensure the sustainability of resources for future generations.
This came during his patronage today of the Social Responsibility in Environment, Water and Agriculture Forum, which was held with the participation of more than 300 specialists and stakeholders from various government agencies, the private sector, and non-profit organizations.

Enabling partnerships for sustainable development

His Excellency explained that the Ministry is proceeding to consolidate this approach through its commitment to promoting social responsibility across its various sectors, reflecting its role in enabling partnerships and directing efforts towards achieving a sustainable developmental impact that aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. He added that the current stage requires partners to move from the framework of participation to the level of actual commitment, through launching clear and measurable initiatives , and building strategic partnerships that translate into tangible results on the ground, contributing to supporting environmental development, enhancing quality of life, and building capacities in social responsibility for companies, associations, and individuals.

Key initiatives

During the forum, His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Environment was briefed on the initiatives of leading strategic entities and companies that presented quality projects reflecting the growing role of the non-profit and private sectors in supporting environmental sustainability. The list of strategic partnerships included the participation of the Al-Muhaidib Foundation for Community Service through initiatives that included reviving reserves, increasing vegetation cover, recycling, and implementing sea clean-up campaigns, in addition to the Gross Charitable Foundation through several initiatives, most notably an innovative initiative to reduce food loss and waste, the agricultural endowment investment initiative, and the initiative to establish environmentally friendly mosques, and the Al-Fawzan Foundation for Community Service, through the social environmental investment initiative, which reflects the integration of community efforts in promoting environmental work.
His Excellency also reviewed the participation of several entities and companies that presented innovative solutions, including the Al-Nafea Endowment for Community Service and the Distinguished Benefits Trading Company through their Digital Recycling Platform initiative; the Zero Neutrality Environmental Services Company with its Smart Afforestation initiative; and the Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz Al-Jumaih Charitable Endowment Foundation through its water desalination project serving remote areas. Other notable initiatives included those of Tadweem Company with its Sustainable Recycling initiative, Hader Energy Company with its Hasif initiative, and Ecocode Company with its KSA Green Pulse initiative. Additionally, Johnson Controls (York) presented its Technology Empowerment initiative to support social responsibility and environmental compliance, a step that promotes innovation and supports the achievement of sustainability goals.
It is worth noting that the forum represents a leading national platform that brings together entities concerned with environmental and developmental work to exchange expertise, review experiences, and explore opportunities for cooperation, contributing to the development of the environmental social responsibility system and enhancing its impact on society in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.
