Makkah: Field visits to enhance food security; the Ministry of Environment accelerates the pace of projects in the governorates

The Director General of the Ministry of Environment , Water and Agriculture branch in the Makkah region, Engineer Waleed Al-Dughais, conducted a series of field visits to several governorates to monitor projects, enhance integration with government agencies, and support the environment, water, and agriculture sectors.
He began his tour by participating in the inauguration of the 15th Mango Festival in Al-Qunfudhah Governorate, supporting farmers and producers, promoting the marketing of their products, and solidifying Al-Qunfudhah's position as one of the Kingdom's leading mango-producing regions.
He also conducted a field visit to Wadi Hali Dam, where he reviewed the progress of work, the level of operational readiness, and the dam's management mechanisms. He also assessed the efficiency of the procedures in place to ensure the facility's safety, the sustainability of water resources, and their optimal use.

Monitoring various projects

The tours included a visit to a mango farm in Al Qouz, where he learned about production methods and the challenges facing farmers, and discussed opportunities to develop the agricultural sector and raise its efficiency in accordance with best practices.

As part of monitoring development projects, he inspected the agricultural city and wildlife park projects in Hali, and reviewed the progress rates and implementation phases, stressing the importance of adhering to timetables and technical standards and accelerating the pace of work to achieve development goals.

Poultry and fish

The tours also included a visit to a poultry project, where he inspected the production lines and quality control procedures, emphasizing the importance of supporting local production and enhancing food security.
He also visited the fish market in Al-Qunfudhah Governorate, reviewing the workflow, the mechanisms for displaying and preserving fish products, and the extent of compliance with health and environmental regulations. He directed that inspection tours be intensified and challenges addressed to improve the work environment and increase operational efficiency.
In the same context, he inspected the fish auction building project, part of the "Reef Saudi Arabia" program, reviewing its components and its 16% completion rate, noting its role in organizing the fish market and promoting economic development.

Implementing services in the field

He concluded his tour in Al-Ardiyat Governorate, where he met with the governor and discussed ways to improve services and enhance cooperation. He also reviewed the workflow at the ministry's office, discussed challenges and beneficiaries' needs, and emphasized the importance of improving performance efficiency and teamwork.
Al-Dughais affirmed that these tours are part of an ongoing field approach to monitor performance and address challenges, contributing to achieving the ministry's objectives, sustainable development, and improving the quality of life across the region's governorates.
