I succeeded King Abdullah Medical CityA member of the Makkah Health Cluster, represented by the Head, Neck and Skull Base Center, achieved a qualitative medical accomplishment, represented by performing a surgery cochlear implant Artificial in a case that is considered one of the rarest cases globally, making it the fourth documented case worldwide to have this operation successfully performed.
The medical city explained that the patient was suffering from osteopetrosis, a rare genetic disease that leads to excessive bone growth in the body and skull, causing profound sensorineural conductive hearing loss.
She explained that the operation was performed successfully without any complications, despite the significant surgical challenges resulting from the disruption and disappearance of anatomical features due to the excessive bone formation, which required high precision and advanced expertise in dealing with such complex cases.

She added that the use of facial nerve monitoring technology during surgery significantly contributed to enhancing surgical safety and achieving the best possible patient outcomes.
The medical city noted that this case, the fourth of its kind globally, reflects its high level of clinical and technical excellence and confirms its ability to handle the most complex and rare cases according to the highest international medical standards.
