Transit and bonded zones: New initiatives to support the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub

The authority explained that this Initiatives This comes as part of efforts to develop the logistics system and raise the efficiency of supply chains, through a set of strategic pillars that contribute to facilitating the flow of goods and enhancing the Kingdom’s competitiveness in the logistics sector.

Customs outlets and ports

The new strategy is based on three main pillars, foremost among them developing the infrastructure at customs ports and entry points to enable them to accommodate the growing volume of trade.
This also includes enhancing digital transformation by adopting electronic customs procedures that contribute to expediting clearance processes and reducing waiting times, in addition to strengthening logistical integration through coordination among relevant entities to ensure a smoother experience for exporters and importers.

International trade movement

In support of international trade, the Authority highlighted two key services that are crucial to facilitating supply chains: transit services and bonded zones.
Transit services enable the movement of goods through the Kingdom to GCC countries via land, sea, and air ports, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's role as a vital trade corridor connecting regional markets and contributing to the faster flow of goods between countries.

As for bonded zones, they allow importers and exporters to store goods in dedicated warehouses with customs duties and taxes suspended until the goods are released for local use or re-exported outside the Kingdom. This provides companies with greater operational and financial flexibility in managing their business operations. The
Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority affirmed that these initiatives reflect the Kingdom's commitment to developing the logistics sector in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, contributing to supporting the national economy and strengthening the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa.
