The "Bab Al-Rifqa" campaign: A successful effort to support Alzheimer's patients in Saudi Arabia

Exceptional achievements in the journey of supporting Alzheimer's patients
The Saudi Alzheimer's Disease Association successfully concluded its Ramadan humanitarian campaign, "The Door of Compassion." This campaign marked a significant milestone in supporting Alzheimer's patients in Saudi Arabia, providing comprehensive medical and social care to over 1,800 families across the Kingdom. These dedicated efforts aimed to enhance the quality of life for patients and their families, alleviating the psychological and financial burdens they face. Launched at the beginning of Ramadan under the slogan "A Support That Extends... A Lasting Impact," the campaign embodied the highest form of social solidarity and effectively contributed to raising community awareness about proper interaction with those affected by this disease.
The historical context of health and social care in the Kingdom
This initiative is an extension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's long-standing and continuous efforts in the healthcare and social welfare sectors. Historically, the wise leadership has given great attention to those most in need of care, and the Saudi Alzheimer's Disease Association was established as the first official body of its kind in the region dedicated to this group. This approach aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which focuses primarily on the Quality of Life Program and providing a comprehensive health and social environment that guarantees dignity and well-being for all citizens. Institutional charitable work in the Kingdom is no longer limited to temporary assistance but has evolved to include sustainable programs that ensure the long-term stability of families.
The local and regional impact of community solidarity initiatives
The impact of the “Bab Al-Rifqa” campaign extends beyond the local level, offering a regional model for managing chronic health crises through community partnerships. Locally, these campaigns help alleviate pressure on the public healthcare system by empowering families and providing home-based care. Regionally, the Kingdom stands out as a pioneer in developing innovative solutions to support vulnerable groups, encouraging non-profit organizations in neighboring countries to adopt similar strategies that integrate material support with psychological and rehabilitative support.
Statistics and figures reflecting the scale of the field achievement
The campaign's final statistics revealed the massive scale of its field achievements in the five targeted areas. Campaign convoys successfully provided 195 specialized medical devices to patients, along with essential medical supplies for 112 beneficiaries and the dispensing of necessary medications to 69 other patients. The support extended beyond healthcare to include basic living needs; accumulated electricity bills were paid for over 108 families, rent was covered for 28 beneficiaries, and food vouchers and nutritional supplements were provided to dozens of individuals in need.
Sustainable volunteer efforts and educational programs
In a humanitarian gesture reflecting the spirit of giving, the volunteer teams of the "Step of Goodness" initiative distributed 50 complete food baskets, along with more than 600 diverse gifts, bringing joy and happiness to patients and their families in various regions. The association explained in its comprehensive report that specialized teams participated in the field, delivering health education and social rehabilitation programs. This strategic step aimed to train families and caregivers on global best practices to improve the quality of daily home care for patients, thus ensuring the sustainability of the campaign's positive impact. The association concluded its work by expressing its deep gratitude to the supporting companies, emphasizing that its doors remain open to receive donations through its official online store or via direct telephone contact.
