Announced Heritage Authority On Monday, it was reported that 4,000 sites had been coded Architectural heritageIn a move that enhances site protection and keeps their stories alive.
She explained via her account on the “X” platform that coding is the final stage in registering urban heritage sites, where a sign bearing a quick response code (QR Code) is installed, identifying the site and linking it to the urban heritage register
She emphasized that this step means:

• Documentation (official national registration and classification of the site).
• Protection (ensuring the sustainability of the site through the archaeology and urban heritage system).

Saudi Heritage Commission

The Authority, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, previously invited academics and researchers to submit original scholarly contributions for inclusion in a peer-reviewed book dedicated to the “Darb Zubayda,” one of the most important historical pilgrimage routes in the Islamic world.
This research initiative, supported by grants and field assistance, aims to deepen understanding of the route's historical development, analyze its physical remains and environmental context, and address the contemporary challenges it faces, as part of a broader initiative to document, interpret, and preserve pilgrimage routes.
