Yemenis: Saudi Arabia's stance is firm in protecting legitimacy and the unity of Yemen

A broad spectrum of the Yemeni community residing in Saudi Arabia expressed its strong welcome and unequivocal support for Riyadh's recent firm stance in support of the legitimate Yemeni government. The residents considered the recent Saudi moves a decisive turning point in the Yemeni crisis, emphasizing that this position embodies the Kingdom's historical commitment to preserving Yemen's unity and territorial integrity, and its rejection of any projects that could lead to the fragmentation of the social fabric or the undermining of state institutions.
The depth of relations and shared destiny
In discussing the background of this event, it's worth noting that Saudi-Yemeni relations transcend mere geographical proximity, forming a deep strategic and fraternal bond that spans decades. Since the launch of the Arab Coalition operations, the Kingdom has prioritized the goal of restoring the Yemeni state from the grip of militias and preserving Arab national security. This latest stance reaffirms the constants of Saudi policy, which views the stability of Yemen as an integral part of the stability of the Kingdom and the entire region, especially in light of the escalating regional challenges that necessitate a unified Arab position.
Residents, speaking to Al-Youm newspaper, praised the Kingdom's explicit call for the UAE to respond to the legitimate government's demands, which included the withdrawal of military forces from Yemeni territory within 24 hours and the cessation of all forms of financial and military support to any entities operating outside the authority of the state. They considered this step a return to the correct course of action in accordance with international frameworks and relevant UN resolutions.
Ahmed Al-Ahdal
Correcting the course to ensure stability
In this regard, Yemeni resident Ahmed Al-Ahdal said that the Kingdom's invitation represents "a decisive and unequivocal historical stance." Al-Ahdal added, explaining, "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has proven once again, beyond any doubt, that it is a true ally of the Yemeni state and its institutions, and not a supporter of any factions or parallel entities that might undermine the state's authority. Riyadh's keenness to correct the course at this critical juncture reflects a far-sighted vision aimed at serving the long-term stability of Yemen and the region.".
Mustafa Al-Qutaibi
Reject militias and support the state
For his part, Yemeni journalist Mustafa al-Qutaibi expressed his condemnation of the practices witnessed in the southern governorates, emphasizing that “supporting armed formations outside the framework of the Yemeni Ministries of Defense and Interior, and interfering in sovereign affairs, has severely damaged efforts to restore the state and contributed to destabilizing security.” Al-Qutaibi pointed out that these practices “completely contradict the declared objectives of the Arab Coalition, which came to save Yemen, not to divide it,” stressing that the recent Saudi position blocks any externally supported partition projects.
Akram Al-Shaalan
Bias towards the will of the Yemeni people
Resident Akram Al-Shaalan saw the Saudi position as “a clear alignment with the will of the Yemeni people and their aspirations to restore their usurped state.” Al-Shaalan emphasized that “Saudi Arabia has proven its support for a unified Yemen and its rejection of the policy of imposing a fait accompli by force of arms,” expressing his hope that this courageous step will contribute to creating a conducive political environment for a return to the path of a just and sustainable peace based on the three agreed-upon frameworks.
Mona Al-Sayyadi
The safety valve of Yemeni unity
At the conclusion of the meetings, Mona Al-Sayyadi stated that this move reflects a deep Saudi understanding of the complexities of the Yemeni landscape and the dangers of multiple military loyalties. She pointed out that “any military or financial support outside the framework of legitimacy will only breed chaos and internal conflict.” Al-Sayyadi described the Saudi role as “the true safeguard for Yemen’s unity and future,” praising the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to support the Yemeni economy and its service institutions, in addition to its political and military support.
