Wednesday's weather details in Saudi Arabia: Rain and active winds

The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily weather report for Wednesday in Saudi Arabia, forecasting continued weather fluctuations including rainfall and thunderstorms. This forecast reflects the commitment of relevant authorities to providing accurate information to citizens and residents to ensure their safety and facilitate their daily commutes.

Wednesday's weather forecast for the regions of the Kingdom

According to the official report, Wednesday's weather will see the formation of thunderstorms accompanied by active winds that will stir up dust and sand in parts of the Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha regions. Meanwhile, there remains a chance of scattered light rain in parts of the Tabuk, Al-Jawf, Northern Borders, Riyadh, and Eastern Province regions. Dense fog is also possible during the night and early morning hours in parts of the Riyadh and Eastern Province regions, so caution is advised while driving.

The impact of weather fluctuations on daily life

These climatic changes have a direct impact on daily activities both locally and regionally. Locally, strong winds and fog reduce horizontal visibility, requiring drivers and highway travelers to exercise extreme caution to avoid traffic accidents. Rainfall, both light and moderate, plays a vital role in supporting the agricultural sector and replenishing groundwater in the Kingdom, which positively impacts the desert environment and contributes to moderating the climate and lowering temperatures.

Maritime navigation situation: Red Sea and Arabian Gulf

Regarding maritime navigation, the report indicated that surface winds on the Red Sea would be southwesterly to northwesterly at speeds ranging from 12 to 34 km/h. Wave heights would reach between half a meter and one and a half meters, resulting in a slight to moderate sea state. In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds would be northwesterly to northerly at speeds of 15-30 km/h in the northern part and 21-42 km/h in the southern part. Wave heights would range from half a meter to one and a half meters in the north and from one to two meters in the south, with a slight to moderate sea state.

Seasonal climate and the role of the National Center for Meteorology

Historically, the Arabian Peninsula, and Saudi Arabia in particular, experiences transitional periods between seasons characterized by atmospheric instability. These periods are known for the formation of cumulonimbus clouds and sudden thunderstorms. This is where the pivotal role of the National Center of Meteorology becomes crucial. Established as the trusted national authority for weather and climate services, the center utilizes state-of-the-art global technologies and radar to monitor cloud movement and wind direction, contributing to the protection of lives and property and mitigating the risks associated with potential natural disasters.

Special warnings: Rain in the Eastern Province

In a special alert, the National Center for Meteorology warned of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong surface winds in the Eastern Province, specifically in the governorates of Al-Ahsa, Abqaiq, and Al-Udayd. This weather is expected to cause near-zero horizontal visibility, in addition to the possibility of thunderstorms and flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas. The center confirmed that this weather warning will remain in effect until 7:00 PM today, urging everyone to adhere to Civil Defense instructions and stay away from floodplains.
