Today's weather in Saudi Arabia: Temperatures and weather phenomena

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia has released details of the expected weather conditions for today, Sunday, outlining the varying temperatures and weather phenomena affecting different regions of the Kingdom. This daily report aims to keep citizens and residents informed about the weather situation, helping them plan their daily activities and exercise caution while traveling.
Temperature details in major cities
The center's data revealed a clear variation in temperatures across the Kingdom's different regions, reflecting the country's diverse geography and climate. While the capital, Riyadh, relatively cold winter weather with a high of 16 degrees Celsius and a low of 7 degrees, the western coastal cities enjoy warmer conditions. Jeddah, a high of 30 degrees Celsius, making it a popular destination at this time of year.
In the Eastern Province, Dammam 19 degrees Celsius, while Al-Ahsa 20 degrees. In the holy cities, Mecca 29 degrees Celsius, while Medina to 19 degrees Celsius during the day and 9 degrees at night.
Climatic context and the influence of geography
Saudi Arabia has a continental climate in its interior and a subtropical climate along its coasts, which explains the significant temperature variations observed in the report. Northern regions such as Sakaka, Arar, and Tarif are directly affected by cold air masses from the north, causing minimum temperatures to plummet to near zero degrees Celsius (0-1°C), a typical pattern during winter in these areas.
On the other hand, humidity plays an influential role in the coastal and eastern regions, where forecasts indicate high humidity levels of up to 90% and 100% in areas such as Al-Ahsa, Hafr Al-Batin and Rafha, which creates the opportunity for fog to form.
Weather phenomena and safety warnings
The National Center for Meteorology has warned of fog formation and reduced horizontal visibility in the early morning hours in parts of the Eastern Province (especially Al-Ahsa and Hafr Al-Batin), the Northern Borders region (Tarif and Rafha), and the highlands (Al-Soudah). This phenomenon is among the most important factors that require drivers on highways to pay attention to ensure public safety.
The report also noted surface wind activity that may stir up dust and sand in some coastal areas such as Al Wajh, which may partially affect visibility.
