The Sudanese Week kicks off in Riyadh Season as part of the Global Harmony initiative

In a festive atmosphere reflecting the spirit of tolerance and coexistence, the Saudi Ministry of Media, in cooperation with the General Entertainment Authority, concluded the “Ethiopian Cultural Days” events, held as part of the second edition of the “Global Harmony” initiative. Al-Suwaidi Park, one of the most prominent destinations of Riyadh Season, witnessed a large public turnout to bid farewell to the Ethiopian events and today welcome the launch of “Sudanese Cultural Week,” in a scene that embodies the cultural diversity embraced by the Kingdom.

A dazzling conclusion to Ethiopian culture

The past few days have witnessed a wide range of visitors engaging with the Ethiopian performances. Attendees enjoyed a rich experience that included the famous Ethiopian coffee ceremony, Masengu musical performances, and folk dances representing various Ethiopian tribes. The events successfully conveyed a vivid image of Ethiopian cultural heritage, giving visitors of different nationalities the opportunity to learn more about the customs and traditions of this ancient African country, amidst an atmosphere of joy, circus acts, and diverse entertainment.

The “Global Harmony” initiative is an integral part of the Quality of Life Program, one of the programs under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Launch of Sudanese Week: Heritage and Diversity

From today until December 20th, attention turns to authentic Sudanese heritage as "Sudanese Culture Week" kicks off, marking the final event of the initiative. More than 80 performers and artists will participate, presenting displays that reflect the diverse folklore of Sudan. The events are expected to be a resounding success, given the large Sudanese community in the Kingdom and the historical and fraternal ties that bind the Saudi and Sudanese peoples.

What awaits visitors?

Visitors to Al-Suwaidi Park will have a unique opportunity to explore the treasures of Sudanese culture, from distinctive traditional clothing such as the "Sudanese thobe" for women and the "jalabiya and turban" for men, to intricate handicrafts. The events will also feature concerts by leading Sudanese artists performing national and traditional songs that reflect the unique pentatonic scale of Sudanese music. And Sudanese cuisine will be a highlight, with visitors having the chance to sample popular dishes representing the various regions of Sudan.

Extended cultural impact

For over 40 days, the “Global Harmony 2” initiative successfully delivered a comprehensive cultural experience showcasing 13 different cultures. This cultural movement not only entertained but also deepened the bonds of love and mutual respect between citizens and residents, reflecting the civilized face of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which opens its arms to all, thus achieving genuine global harmony on the ground.
