Half a million volunteer hours in the Prophet's Mosque during 2025
In an achievement reflecting the spirit of giving and dedication to serving the pilgrims, the General Authority for the Care of the Prophet's Mosque recorded record numbers in volunteer work during 2025. The efforts of (27,154) male and female volunteers combined to provide high-quality field services, achieving a total of (519,396) volunteer hours, embodying the highest meanings of social solidarity and the honor of serving the holy sites.
Volunteering and the Kingdom's Vision 2030
These figures are not a coincidence, but rather a direct reflection of the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aspires to reach one million volunteers annually. Volunteer work at the Two Holy Mosques is a fundamental pillar of this vision, with the wise leadership paying close attention to creating a suitable environment for volunteers and empowering them to perform their roles with high efficiency. These efforts are part of an integrated system aimed at enriching the experience of visitors and pilgrims, and presenting a distinguished and civilized image of the culture of welcome and hospitality deeply rooted in Saudi society.
Diverse opportunities and field services
Official statistics revealed that volunteer opportunities encompassed 373 diverse areas, covering all the needs of visitors to the Prophet's Mosque. Field efforts focused on crowd management and human flow to ensure smooth movement in the corridors and courtyards, especially during peak times and prayer periods. Volunteers also played a prominent role in providing care for the elderly and people with disabilities, offering wheelchairs and mobility assistance, as well as distributing breakfast meals and bottles of blessed Zamzam water to those fasting.
Specialized services: medical and advisory
The efforts were not limited to organizational services but extended to include highly specialized aspects. Qualified volunteers participated in providing medical and first aid services in cooperation with relevant health authorities, contributing to enhancing the health and safety of worshippers. Furthermore, translation and guidance services played a pivotal role in assisting non-Arabic speaking visitors. Volunteers provided informational support, guided visitors through enriching pathways, and explained the smart services and interactive screens available in several languages, thus facilitating the performance of religious rites with ease and tranquility for the pilgrims.
