His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey, and his accompanying delegation departed the Saudi capital, Riyadh, today, concluding an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that reflected the deep fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries. An official farewell ceremony was held for His Excellency at King Khalid International Airport, where he was seen off by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, who conveyed the greetings of the wise leadership to the distinguished guest.

The farewell ceremony was attended by high-level diplomatic and governmental figures, reflecting the importance of the visit and the guest's stature. His Excellency the Minister of Commerce, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi (the accompanying minister), participated in the farewell, indicating the economic and commercial importance the Kingdom attaches to its relations with Turkey. Also present were the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Republic of Turkey, Fahd bin Asaad Abu Al-Nasr, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Kingdom, Amrullah İşler, the Acting Regional Police Chief, Major General Mansour bin Nasser Al-Otaibi, and the Deputy Chief of Royal Protocol, Fahd Al-Sahil.

Dimensions of the visit and the future of Saudi-Turkish relations

This visit comes amidst the active diplomatic engagement that Saudi-Turkish relations have witnessed in recent years. As major regional powers and active members of the G20, both countries seek to strengthen frameworks for joint cooperation across various fields. These meetings are of paramount strategic importance given the current regional and international challenges, necessitating ongoing coordination between Riyadh and Ankara to ensure the security and stability of the region.

Economic and investment cooperation

The economic aspect forms a cornerstone of the growing relations between the two countries, which explains the presence of the Minister of Trade within the official delegation accompanying and seeing off the Turkish delegation. Through its Vision 2030, the Kingdom seeks to open up broad investment opportunities with Turkey, particularly in the construction, defense, tourism, and energy sectors. The past period has witnessed remarkable growth in the volume of trade exchange, with shared aspirations to elevate economic cooperation to record levels that serve the interests of both nations.

A strategic partnership to serve the region's issues

In addition to economic matters, political consultations between the Saudi and Turkish leaderships are a cornerstone in addressing Middle Eastern issues. The warm farewell ceremonies and the significant official attention given to President Erdoğan's visit underscore the shared desire to move forward to a new phase of comprehensive strategic partnership, one that extends beyond bilateral relations to include coordinating positions in international and Islamic forums in support of just causes and the promotion of international peace and security.
