Spiritual atmosphere: Worshippers witness the completion of the Quran recitation at the Prophet's Mosque

Medina experienced an exceptional night, a night of profound spirituality, as vast crowds of worshippers and visitors gathered at the Prophet's Mosque for the completion of the Quran recitation during the Taraweeh prayers on the 29th night of Ramadan. Worshippers arrived from within Saudi Arabia and abroad from early morning, filling the mosque's halls, courtyards, and roof, with the rows extending into the surrounding streets and areas, all amidst an atmosphere of faith, security, tranquility, and peace.
The historical and spiritual dimensions of the night of the Quran's completion in the Prophet's Mosque
The Prophet's Mosque holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims, being the second holiest site on Earth after the Grand Mosque in Mecca. The night of the Quran's completion in the Prophet's Mosque is of immense historical and spiritual significance. The tradition of Tarawih prayers and gatherings to recite the Holy Quran dates back to the time of the Companions of the Prophet (may God be pleased with them), specifically when the Rightly Guided Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) united the Muslims behind a single imam. Since then, this great religious tradition has been passed down through generations. Listening to the complete recitation of God's word in the very place from which the light of Islam shone forth gives worshippers a profound sense of connection to the Prophet's noble life and reinforces the values of tolerance and peace brought by Islam.
The event's impact and repercussions at the local and international levels
The impact of this spiritual event is not limited to those present in Medina; its resonance extends throughout the entire Muslim world. Locally, this gathering of millions reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's success in managing massive crowds and providing a model of exceptional organization and care for the pilgrims. Regionally and internationally, the live broadcast of the Taraweeh prayers and the supplication at the end of Ramadan reaches millions of Muslims across the globe, strengthening the unity of the Muslim Ummah and reinforcing the spiritual bonds between its peoples. Seeing these vast multitudes supplicating to God with one heart leaves a profound impact on Muslims, renewing within them the spirit of hope and solidarity.
Humbling prayers embrace the heavens
On this blessed night, the Imam and Khateeb of the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Salah Al-Budair, led the prayers. With a humble heart, he raised his hands in supplication, praying for forgiveness and deliverance from Hellfire for all Muslims at the conclusion of this holy month. He also beseeched God Almighty to protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all Muslim lands from all harm and evil, and to perpetuate upon them the blessings of security, safety, stability, and prosperity. The Sheikh did not forget to ask God for guidance and success for the rulers, in recognition of their tremendous efforts in serving Islam and Muslims and caring for the Two Holy Mosques.
An integrated system of services for the comfort of the pilgrims
Behind this awe-inspiring scene stand the tremendous efforts of the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, in constant coordination with various security, health, and regulatory bodies. The Authority has established a comprehensive system of services to ensure the smooth flow of entry and exit, equipping all prayer areas and main and secondary corridors, and ensuring they are free of any obstacles that might impede the movement of crowds.
These exceptional efforts included intensive sanitization of the Prophet's Mosque, its roof, and courtyards five times daily, in addition to fumigating the air with the finest perfumes four times a day. The mosque's arcades were also furnished with approximately 25,000 luxurious carpets, and ample quantities of chilled Zamzam water were provided. This directly contributed to creating a healthy and safe environment, enabling worshippers and visitors to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility, in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership, which places serving the Two Holy Mosques at the forefront of its priorities.
