Taibah University launches Cybersecurity Camp 2026 for academics

In a move aimed at strengthening the digital infrastructure of educational institutions, Taibah University in Madinah announced the launch of the "Cybersecurity Camp," a specialized training program for faculty members at Saudi universities and those in similar positions. This program comes in response to increasing technological challenges and the need to protect the academic digital space.

The context of digital transformation and the importance of cybersecurity

The organization of this camp aligns with the strategic directions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under Vision 2030, which places great emphasis on digital transformation and cybersecurity. The Kingdom has achieved advanced global rankings in the Global Cybersecurity Index, reflecting its tireless efforts to build a secure and reliable cyberspace. Universities and educational institutions are an integral part of this system, possessing a wealth of research data and personal information that requires the highest standards of protection.

The camp, which will be held remotely from February 1 to 4, 2026, aims to raise the level of preparedness among academic staff, and transform them from mere users of technology into a first line of defense against digital threats, by establishing safe practices and awareness of potential risks.

Details of the four training programs

The university designed the camp's content to include four intensive and practical training programs, held daily at 8:30 pm, covering the following aspects:

  • Cyber phishing and social engineering (Sunday): The first program focuses on revealing the methods of attackers in psychologically manipulating victims, reviewing suspicious communication channels, and how to detect phishing tricks before falling into their trap.
  • Smartphone Security (Monday): The second program addresses the risks that threaten mobile devices, common hacking mechanisms, with a focus on proper practices for using applications and activating built-in security features to protect personal data.
  • Protecting Digital Identity (Tuesday): Under the title "Your Accounts... Your Identity in Cyberspace," the third program reviews the importance of two-factor authentication and how to manage digital accounts in a way that prevents identity theft or data theft.
  • Password Security (Wednesday): The camp concludes with the "Attacks Against Passwords and Prevention Methods" program, which explains the types of cyberattacks that target passwords, common mistakes made by users, and technical solutions for creating strong and secure passwords.

Expected impact locally and academically

This camp is expected to contribute to creating a safer learning environment, as empowering faculty members helps mitigate breaches that could target intellectual property or university systems. The program also fosters a culture of cybersecurity within the academic community, which will positively impact national information security in general.

Taibah University invited those interested in benefiting from these quality programs to follow its official platforms on social media to obtain details of registration and participation.
