Saudi Arabia Weather Statistics 2025: Rainfall, Temperature, and Warnings

The National Center for Meteorology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia revealed the comprehensive statistical report on the climate conditions witnessed in the Kingdom’s regions during the year 2025, highlighting the most prominent weather phenomena, rainfall rates, and the significant variation in temperatures, based on an advanced network of monitoring stations and modern technologies adopted by the center.
Rainfall rates: Jeddah and Asir lead the way
Official data showed that the average total rainfall across the Kingdom reached 58.6 mm. In terms of geographical distribution, Jeddah recorded a record daily rainfall of 137.8 mm in a single day, reflecting the nature of the heavy rainfall events that can affect coastal areas over short periods.
On the other hand, the Asir region continued to lead the overall rainfall scene, recording the highest average rainfall among the Kingdom's regions at 103.7 mm. This figure is consistent with the geographical nature of the Asir region, which is characterized by its mountainous terrain and its exposure to humid monsoon winds, making it one of the regions that receives the most rainfall throughout the year, thus enhancing its water reserves and vegetation cover.
Thermal contrast: between freezing and scorching heat
Statistics from 2025 reflected the great climatic diversity that characterizes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia due to its vast area and varied terrain. The city of Tarif in the Northern Borders region recorded the lowest temperature of the year, dropping to -5 degrees Celsius, highlighting the cold continental climate that affects the northern regions during winter.
In contrast, Al-Ahsa Governorate in the Eastern Province recorded the highest temperature of the year, nearing the 50-degree Celsius mark at 49.9 degrees. This significant temperature difference, exceeding 54 degrees Celsius between the lowest and highest temperatures, underscores the importance of urban and agricultural planning adapted to such climatic variations.
Early warning and crisis management
As part of the National Center of Meteorology's efforts to enhance public safety, the report indicated that the Kingdom experienced 35 significant weather events during the year. The Center responded to these events by issuing 2,484 weather alerts covering all regions of the Kingdom. These figures reflect the vital role of the early warning system in alerting relevant authorities and citizens, thus directly contributing to the protection of lives and property and raising the level of preparedness for dealing with emergencies.
