SDAIA enhances the Makkah Route Initiative in Côte d'Ivoire with advanced technologies

In a pioneering move reflecting the technological advancements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has strengthened its prominent technological presence within the Makkah Route Initiative in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. This achievement comes through the operation of a sophisticated digital system within the initiative's terminal at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport. This strategic step aims to enhance the efficiency of services provided to pilgrims and facilitate their procedures from the moment they depart their home countries until their arrival in the Holy Land, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to harnessing the latest technologies to serve pilgrims.
Roots and development of the Makkah Route Initiative
is The Makkah Route Initiative one of the most important national initiatives launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, dating back to 1438 AH (2017 CE). This initiative was launched as a key component of the Guests of God Service Program, one of the programs under Saudi Vision 2030, with the aim of transforming the Hajj experience. Since its inception, the initiative has successfully served more than 1,254,994 pilgrims from across the Islamic world. The Saudi Ministry of Interior is implementing this initiative in its eighth year, in close collaboration with several government entities, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media, as well as the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the General Directorate of Passports, and the Guests of God Service Program, in partnership with the digital partner, stc Group.
Regional and international impact of facilitating the pilgrims' journey
The continued expansion of the initiative to include new countries such as Côte d'Ivoire is of paramount importance both regionally and internationally. Domestically, this expansion highlights the Kingdom's ability to manage massive crowds using artificial intelligence and big data technologies, reinforcing its position as a leader in technological solutions. Regionally and internationally, the initiative reflects the Kingdom's positive image in facilitating the performance of the fifth pillar of Islam for millions of Muslims. Reducing waiting times and streamlining complex procedures at airports in the pilgrims' home countries has a profoundly positive impact on them and underscores the Kingdom's leading role in the Islamic world.
SDAIA's role in the digital transformation of Hajj services
SDAIA played a pivotal role in developing and operating the initiative's technological infrastructure. Hajj procedures are implemented through an integrated digital system that includes personal data verification, biometric registration, and the electronic issuance of Hajj permits. This integration ensures streamlined procedures, unprecedented speed in completion, and reduced waiting times. Furthermore, SDAIA connected participating entities through a unified platform that guarantees data accuracy and seamless flow, enhancing performance efficiency and supporting immediate decision-making.
Smart services for the comfort of pilgrims
One of the most significant outcomes of this digital integration is the provision of advanced smart services, including baggage tagging and electronic linking to pilgrims' accommodations in Saudi Arabia. This innovative system enables the direct delivery of pilgrims' luggage without the need to collect it upon arrival. This level of service exemplifies one of the most prominent applications of data and artificial intelligence in serving pilgrims, by providing a seamless experience based on the highest standards of service quality and efficiency, thus allowing pilgrims to fully dedicate themselves to performing their rituals with peace of mind and ease.
