Saudi Arabia weather today: Rain, wind, and dust in 6 regions

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia revealed details of the expected weather conditions for this Saturday, as climate forecasts indicate a state of atmospheric instability affecting several regions, which calls for caution and vigilance by citizens, residents and highway users.
Details of the rainy weather and active winds
The center explained in its daily report that the chance of light to moderate thunderstorms remains. This weather pattern includes parts of the Northern and Eastern Borders . The chance of light rain also extends to parts of the Madinah, Makkah, Al-Baha, and Asir . These weather fluctuations are part of the climatic characteristics of the transitional phase the Kingdom is experiencing, during which different air masses are interacting.
In a related context, the center warned of the continued impact of active winds stirring up dust and sand, which may lead to reduced horizontal visibility. These winds will affect large parts of the Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Jawf, Northern Borders, Hail, and Qassim , extending to the northern parts of the Riyadh . The center also cautioned about the possibility of fog formation during the night and early morning hours in parts of these areas, requiring extra caution while driving.
State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Monitoring sea conditions is vital for fishermen, seafarers, and commercial shipping. The forecast is as follows:
Red Sea
- Surface winds: They will be northwesterly to northeasterly on the northern and central parts at a speed of 20 to 50 km/h, while they will be southwesterly to southeasterly on the southern part at a speed of 12-40 km/h, and may reach a speed of 50 km/h towards the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
- Wave height: It ranges between one and two meters, and may exceed two and a half meters in the northern and central parts, while it reaches more than two meters towards the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
- Sea conditions: It is described as moderate to rough in the north and center, and light to moderate in the south, turning rough towards the strait.
Arabian Gulf
- Surface winds: Southerly to southeasterly at a speed of 20-48 km/h, turning northwesterly in the evening in the northern part, and southwesterly to southeasterly in the central and southern parts.
- Wave height: from one to two meters in the north, and from half a meter to one meter in the center and south.
- Sea state: Moderate waves in the northern part, and slight waves in the central and southern parts.
