Strict measures against violations by online stores in Saudi Arabia

In this context, the Saudi Ministry of Commerce announced it has taken strict legal action against an online store after it was found to have manipulated customer orders, underscoring the commitment of relevant authorities to providing a safe and fair business environment for all.
Ongoing efforts to monitor violations by online stores
The Saudi Ministry of Commerce recently launched an investigation into several official complaints filed by consumers against an online store that committed a clear violation by substituting consumer orders with products different from those agreed upon and purchased. In response to these complaints, the Ministry ordered the offending store to immediately refund all payments to the affected consumers. Furthermore, the Ministry summoned the service provider and the store manager to its headquarters to take the necessary legal and regulatory measures against them, serving as a deterrent to anyone who might consider manipulating shoppers' rights.
The development of digital shopping in the Kingdom and the legislative environment
The e-commerce sector in Saudi Arabia is experiencing exceptional growth, driven by the Saudi Vision 2030 initiatives aimed at diversifying the national economy and promoting digital transformation. About two weeks ago, the Ministry of Commerce took decisive action to block another online store after detecting advertisements and products that illegally exploited images of national symbols and state officials in marketing its products. The Ministry explained at the time that this measure was based on a circular issued to commercial establishments in implementation of Royal Decree No. (3587) dated 21/1/1440 AH, which prohibits the use of the state emblem and images of symbols and officials in any commercial transactions or promotional campaigns, in order to preserve the sanctity of these symbols and prevent their exploitation for financial gain.
