Saudi Arabia foils drug smuggling attempt in Oman and seizes 71 kg of crystal meth in Riyadh

In a new preemptive strike that confirms the vigilance of the Saudi security services and the extension of their intelligence arm to protect the region, the security spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Talal bin Abdul Mohsen bin Shalhoub, announced the success of joint security cooperation that resulted in thwarting cross-border criminal plots.
In detail, based on precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate of Narcotics Control in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to its counterpart in the Sultanate of Oman, Omani authorities thwarted two attempts to smuggle massive quantities of narcotics exceeding 200 kilograms. This achievement comes as part of ongoing security efforts to monitor the activities of criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and targeting the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The importance of Gulf security cooperation
This successful coordination reflects the depth of the strategic relationship between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, and underscores the importance of security integration and information sharing among the countries of the region to combat the scourge of drugs. These operations are part of a comprehensive strategy adopted by the Saudi Ministry of Interior to strike at the heart of smugglers' operations, either in their own territory or before their drugs reach Gulf societies, thus highlighting the Kingdom's leading role in the regional and international war on drugs.
Shabu drug trafficking network busted in Riyadh
In a related context concerning internal security efforts, Brigadier General Bin Shalhoub explained that the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, in fruitful cooperation with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, carried out a high-profile security operation in the Riyadh region. This operation resulted in the dismantling of a cell consisting of six Pakistani residents.
The suspects were caught red-handed receiving a large shipment of methamphetamine (crystal meth) weighing 71 kilograms. Crystal meth is one of the most dangerous synthetic drugs, directly targeting the nervous system, and seizing this large quantity protects thousands of young people from falling prey to this devastating addiction.
The war on drugs continues
The security spokesman affirmed that the Kingdom is continuing firmly to monitor criminal activities that target the security of the nation and its youth, stressing that the security services will stand ready for anyone who dares to tamper with the security of society, and will work to thwart smuggling and promotion attempts, arrest those involved in them and bring them to justice.
The Ministry of Interior called upon all citizens and residents to contribute to this national effort by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling or trafficking. Reports can be made via the numbers (911) in the Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, (999) in the rest of the Kingdom, the General Directorate of Narcotics Control hotline (995), or by email at [email protected] , assuring that all reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
