The Cabinet approves the copyright system and discusses developments in Gaza

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - may God protect him - chaired the Cabinet meeting held today in Riyadh, which witnessed the issuance of a number of important decisions and regulatory approvals, most notably the approval of the Copyright Law, in addition to reviewing developments in regional and international affairs.

At the beginning of the session, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince briefed the Council on the contents of the message he received from His Majesty the King of Bahrain, which affirms the deep fraternal relations between the two countries. The Council then moved on to discuss current developments, reiterating the Kingdom's firm and unwavering support for achieving peace in the Gaza Strip. The Council affirmed the Kingdom's commitment to supporting efforts aimed at ending the conflict and reconstruction, emphasizing that stability in the Palestinian territories is a fundamental pillar for achieving comprehensive regional security, which aligns with the Kingdom's historical role in supporting Arab and Islamic causes and striving for just and lasting solutions.

Enhancing the Kingdom's global economic standing

On the economic front, the Cabinet welcomed the Kingdom's hosting of the World Economic Forum's international meeting on cooperation and growth, scheduled for next April. This hosting underscores Riyadh's pivotal role as a global hub for economic decision-making and a bridge between developed and developing economies. This event is a continuation of the successes of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 initiatives, which aim to diversify income sources and create an attractive investment environment.

In a related context, the Council noted the Kingdom’s success in attracting more than 700 global companies to open their regional headquarters in Riyadh, which reflects the growing confidence in the strength of the Saudi economy and the advanced digital and legislative infrastructure that the Kingdom provides to the business sector.

Significant leaps forward in the housing sector

The Council reviewed local reports demonstrating significant progress in the housing program, with homeownership rates among citizens projected to reach 66.2% by the end of 2025. This achievement is a result of government policies focused on diversifying housing options and facilitating financing, directly contributing to improving the quality of life for Saudi families, a key objective of Vision 2030.

Approval of the copyright system and other decisions

As part of updating the legislative framework to align with international standards and bolster the knowledge economy, the Cabinet approved the Copyright Law . This step aims to strengthen intellectual property protection in the Kingdom, encouraging innovation and creativity, and providing a secure environment for creators and investors in the cultural and technological fields.

The council also concluded by issuing the following resolutions:

  • The Minister of Energy is authorized to discuss renewable energy projects with the Turkish side.
  • The Minister of Interior is authorized to discuss cooperation with Türkiye in the field of civil defense.
  • Approval of the Mutual Investment Protection Agreement between the Kingdom and Morocco.
  • Approval of air transport services agreements with a number of countries, including South Africa and Algeria.
  • Approval of the final accounts of a number of government agencies.
  • Approval of a number of promotions to the fifteenth and fourteenth ranks.
