The leadership congratulates the King of Thailand on National Day... Growing relations

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, sent a cable of congratulations to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn of the Kingdom of Thailand on the occasion of his country's National Day. In his cable, the King expressed his sincerest congratulations and best wishes for continued health and happiness to His Majesty, and for further progress and prosperity to the government and people of the friendly Kingdom of Thailand, affirming the Kingdom's keenness to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Crown Prince's congratulations
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, also sent a similar congratulatory cable to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn. The Crown Prince expressed his warmest congratulations and best wishes for His Majesty's continued health and happiness, and wished the friendly people of the Kingdom of Thailand further progress and prosperity in all fields.
A new era in Saudi-Thai relations
This congratulation comes in the context of a remarkable development and rapid growth in bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Thailand, especially after the restoration of full diplomatic relations between the two countries at the beginning of 2022. The visit of the Thai Prime Minister to Riyadh in that year, and the subsequent visit of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Bangkok, constituted a historic turning point that established a new phase of strategic partnership.
Relations are currently witnessing extensive cooperation in multiple fields, including energy, tourism, labor, and investment, as both countries seek to capitalize on the promising economic opportunities offered by Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and Thailand's development plans. The exchange of greetings on national occasions reflects the depth of diplomatic ties and the shared desire to move forward toward a more prosperous future for both friendly nations.
The importance of Thai National Day
The Thai people celebrate their National Day on December 5th each year, a date of great symbolic significance in the Thai consciousness as it marks the birth anniversary of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, whom Thais consider the "Father of the Nation" and a symbol of national unity. The celebrations extend beyond official ceremonies to include cultural and popular events that reflect Thailand's identity and rich history. The participation of world leaders, including the Saudi leadership, in this occasion is a testament to mutual respect and appreciation for Thailand's regional and international standing.
