Saudi Interior Minister meets with Algerian President to strengthen security

In the context of strengthening the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, and based on the generous directive of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - may God protect him - His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, met today with His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic of Algeria, at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Algiers.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud began the meeting by conveying the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to the President of Algeria, and their wishes for continued progress, prosperity, security and stability for the sisterly nation of Algeria, government and people.

Strategic dimensions and historical depth

This visit comes at a crucial time, reflecting the deep historical ties between Riyadh and Algiers, as both countries wield significant political and economic influence in the Arab and Islamic world. Saudi-Algerian relations are characterized by continuous coordination in various international forums and a shared commitment to strengthening joint Arab action and defending the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations, making this meeting a further step towards consolidating the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Strengthening the joint security system

During the meeting, the distinguished bilateral relations were reviewed, with particular emphasis on the existing security cooperation between the two brotherly countries. This cooperation is of paramount importance given the security challenges facing the region and the world, as the Kingdom and Algeria seek to unify their efforts in combating terrorism and extremism, fighting transnational crime, and combating drug trafficking. This high-level coordination is expected to contribute to the exchange of security and technical expertise, thereby enhancing the ability of security agencies in both countries to protect national achievements and ensure the stability of their societies.

High-level attendance

The meeting was attended on the Saudi side by a high-level delegation that included Assistant Minister of Interior Dr. Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al-Falih, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Algeria Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Busairi, Director General of the Minister’s Office for Studies and Research Major General Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Arwan, and Director General of Legal Affairs and International Cooperation Mr. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Issa.

Also present from the Algerian side were the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Boualem Boualem, and the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Mr. Said Saïoud, reflecting the great importance that both parties attach to these fruitful talks.
