Saudi Arabia welcomes the second phase of the Gaza peace process and the Peace Council

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet meeting held today, Tuesday, in Riyadh. During the meeting, the Cabinet reviewed the current regional and international situation, with a particular focus on developments in the Palestinian territories.
In a move reflecting the Kingdom’s continued support for regional stability efforts, the Cabinet welcomed the launch of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan in the Gaza Strip. The Cabinet also commended the official commencement of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip’s duties, considering it a pivotal step towards unifying the Palestinian ranks and restoring national institutions to their role in serving the brotherly Palestinian people.
In a related context, the Council welcomed the announcement by His Excellency US President Donald Trump of the establishment of the "Peace Council," commending the tireless international efforts exerted in this regard to reach this advanced stage of understanding. The Council affirmed the Kingdom's appreciation for all endeavors aimed at defusing crises and establishing lasting peace.
The importance of the second phase and its regional impact
The second phase of the peace plan is of paramount strategic importance, representing the actual transition from a cessation of hostilities to institution-building and the management of civil affairs. The Palestinian National Committee assuming its responsibilities in administering the Gaza Strip is crucial for ensuring the regular delivery of humanitarian aid and the commencement of long-awaited reconstruction projects, thereby alleviating the humanitarian suffering of Gaza's residents.
The Saudi role and historical stance
The Cabinet's welcoming of these steps stems from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's longstanding and unwavering position on the Palestinian issue. Riyadh has consistently called, in all international forums, for just and comprehensive solutions that guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people and support the establishment of their independent state. These developments underscore the success of Saudi and Arab diplomacy in garnering international support to advance the peace process and reaffirm that stability in the Middle East cannot be achieved without a just resolution to the Palestinian question.
The Kingdom hopes that the announced "Peace Council" will contribute to providing an international umbrella that guarantees the implementation of the agreement's provisions and prevents any future escalation that may threaten the gains achieved, thereby enhancing international peace and security.
