The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia revealed details on Tuesday of the maximum temperatures recorded in various cities and provinces across the Kingdom, in a report reflecting the country's significant climatic diversity. Mecca topped the list of warmest cities, while the northern regions and highlands recorded lower temperatures, indicating variations in weather conditions depending on the geographical nature of each area.

Geographical diversity and its impact on the climate in Saudi Arabia
Today's readings clearly demonstrate the continental nature of Saudi Arabia's climate, highlighting the stark contrast between the humid, moderately warm coastal areas and the cooler northern and mountainous regions. This disparity, with temperatures ranging from over 15 degrees Celsius between Tarif (16 degrees) and Mecca (32 degrees) at the same time, reflects the Kingdom's vast size and diverse topography, encompassing expansive deserts, towering mountains, and long coastlines.
The role of the National Center for Meteorology and the importance of data
The National Center of Meteorology plays a pivotal role in accurately monitoring and tracking weather conditions, utilizing the latest technologies, advanced monitoring equipment, and sophisticated radars. This data is of paramount importance not only for understanding daily weather patterns but also for serving numerous vital sectors. Economically, the agriculture, tourism, and transportation sectors rely heavily on these forecasts to plan their operations and mitigate potential risks.
On the social and health level, these publications help citizens and residents to take the necessary measures, such as choosing appropriate clothing and avoiding direct exposure to sunlight in hot areas, or taking precautions in cold areas, which contributes to maintaining public health and traffic safety on the highways that connect these climatically diverse regions.
