The General Assembly of the Sanad Association for Social Responsibility in the Eastern Province approved its first strategic plan, with the Sanad Al-Ahsa to enhance community impact and achieve comprehensive developmental sustainability. This historic approval, made during the association's second meeting of 2026, represents a pioneering step towards institutionalizing social work and expanding the scope of developmental initiatives in the province, thanks to the generous support and expert guidance of the Sustainability Expertise Endowment, thus establishing a clear and specific roadmap for the next phase.
Pillars of sustainable development in the new “Sanad Al-Ahsa” plan
The strategic plan adopted for the Sanad Al-Ahsa on four parallel developmental pillars carefully designed to meet the actual needs of the local community. These pillars include enhancing direct community impact, ensuring the association's financial sustainability through diversifying income sources and social investment, building strong strategic partnerships with the public and private sectors, and achieving operational excellence and improving administrative performance. Collectively, these pillars aim to raise the efficiency of charitable and social work and transform it from traditional welfare to sustainable development.

This pioneering step comes within the context of a comprehensive development movement underway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Historically, social and volunteer work in the region has undergone major transformations, moving from limited individual and seasonal efforts to organized, institutional work aimed at empowering individuals and developing their capabilities sustainably. The expected impact of the strategic plan at different levels
The new strategic plan is expected to bring about a qualitative shift on several levels. Locally, the plan will empower families, develop youth skills, and provide training and employment opportunities that support local development in Al-Ahsa. At the national and regional levels, this strategy aligns with the Vision's objectives to increase the non-profit sector's contribution to GDP to 5% and to increase the number of qualified volunteers. Internationally, adopting sustainability and governance standards positions the association as a role model in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the areas of quality education, decent work, and sustainable partnerships.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Eid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sanad Association for Social Responsibility, affirmed that the adoption of this strategic document represents a vital turning point in consolidating institutional work and fulfilling the ambitious developmental aspirations of beneficiaries. Al-Eid noted that the significant and continuous support from the members of the General Assembly has been instrumental in developing these plans and driving success.
