The Red Crescent in Medina continues to serve pilgrims after Hajj

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Madinah continues to provide its comprehensive ambulance and humanitarian services to visitors of the Prophet's Mosque. The Red Crescent's role in Madinah particularly crucial during the post-Hajj period of 1447 AH. These efforts coincide with the influx of pilgrims to Madinah after performing their rituals, and are part of the approved operational plan to ensure the safety and health of all.
Maximum readiness and technical integration of the Red Crescent teams in the city
The Director General of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority's branch in Madinah, Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Zahrani, explained that ambulance teams operate around the clock to provide immediate emergency care. Authority personnel are deployed extensively in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque and other vital, high-traffic areas to ensure rapid response and access to emergency cases.
The authority has mobilized all its human and technological resources, including golf carts, motorcycles, and environmentally friendly electric vehicles, in addition to activating the air ambulance system to handle critical cases according to the highest international standards. The regional medical evacuation center continues to receive reports via the emergency number (997) and the “Is’afni” (Help Me) application, with close monitoring of the field through advanced tracking systems to ensure service quality.
A legacy of serving the pilgrims across the decades
Historically, serving pilgrims at the Two Holy Mosques has been linked to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering vision of facilitating the pilgrimage and providing the highest levels of safety and comfort. Since its establishment, the Authority has witnessed tremendous development in its ambulance services, moving from reliance on traditional methods to the integration of artificial intelligence and modern medical technologies.
The post-Hajj phase is a vital stage that requires careful planning, as hundreds of thousands of pilgrims head to Medina to visit the Prophet’s Mosque and historical and archaeological landmarks such as Quba Mosque and Mount Uhud, which places a double responsibility on medical personnel to maintain public health and prevent heat stress and chronic diseases.
Humanitarian dimensions and regional and international impacts of the Kingdom's relief efforts
The importance of these medical services extends beyond the local level, serving as an inspiring international model for crowd management and emergency healthcare during large gatherings. The Kingdom's continued success in ensuring the safety of millions of pilgrims from diverse nationalities reinforces its leading global position as a premier authority in mass gathering medicine.
Regionally and internationally, these efforts contribute to building bridges of trust and reassurance with the countries whose citizens are sent to perform the pilgrimage, affirming the Kingdom's humanitarian commitment to providing comprehensive and free healthcare that reflects the deeply rooted values of generosity and hospitality that characterize Saudi society. This integrated coordination between the Red Crescent and other governmental, security, and health agencies demonstrates the level of organizational development achieved by the Kingdom's service system in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
