Over the past 24 hours, Saudi Arabia experienced rainfall across several regions, with the Makkah region recording the highest amount at 32.2 mm in Sabt Al-Jarah, Al-Qunfudhah Governorate. This rainfall is part of a wave of unstable weather affecting seven administrative regions of the Kingdom, promising a good rainy season that will contribute to irrigating the land and supporting vegetation.
Rainfall details in Mecca and Taif
Weather monitoring data revealed varying rainfall amounts across the Makkah region and its governorates. In addition to the record high recorded in Al-Qunfudhah, Taif Governorate experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, with the Al-Dar Al-Bayda area recording 25.0 mm and the Al-Hada tourist area recording 16.4 mm. Al-Muwayh Governorate also received its share of rain, with the monitoring station in Al-Ruknah recording 24.2 mm, reflecting the widespread nature of the rainfall across the highlands, coastal areas, and plains of the region.
Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Report
The daily report issued by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture on rainfall amounts revealed that (49) hydrological and climatological monitoring stations tracked flash floods and rainfall in the regions of Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, the Eastern Province, the Northern Borders, and Al-Baha. This precise monitoring is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to monitor water resources, as these stations play a vital role in providing accurate data that aids in dam management, guides farmers, and supports climate studies aimed at achieving sustainable water security in the Kingdom.
Rainfall amounts in Riyadh, Medina and Qassim
Regarding the remaining regions, the report indicated that the Riyadh region experienced light to moderate rainfall, with Al-Alqa recording 3.0 mm in Al-Zulfi Governorate and 2.7 mm in Al-Zulfi City. In the Madinah region, the rainfall was concentrated in Al-Hanakiya Governorate, with Al-Hasu recording 10.6 mm and Al-Hasu Municipality recording 10.2 mm. In the Qassim region, monitoring stations in Buraydah recorded equal amounts of 6.0 mm in both Al-Fawarah and Al-Batin, which will contribute to improving natural pastures in these important agricultural areas.
Rainfall conditions in the Eastern, Northern, and Southern regions
The rainy weather extended to the Eastern Province, with Hafr Al-Batin recording 3.3 mm and the airbase in the province recording 2.8 mm. In the Northern Borders region, Rafha province recorded 1.2 mm. In the southwestern highlands, the Al-Baha region experienced rainfall, with Bani Hassan recording 2.9 mm and Bal-Khazmar in Al-Mandaq province recording 0.5 mm. This rainfall is considered an important boost to groundwater and surface water, especially in areas that rely on rain-fed agriculture and terraced farming.
