New public security services via Absher: surveillance cameras and weapons permits

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, the headquarters of the General Directorate of Public Security in Riyadh witnessed a new step in the path of digital security transformation, as His Excellency the Director of Public Security, Lieutenant General Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Bassami, launched today a package of new electronic services through the Ministry of Interior’s electronic platform “Absher”.

Enhancing digital transformation and keeping pace with Vision 2030

This step comes as a continuation of the Ministry of Interior's ongoing efforts to automate government services, in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to build an effective digital government. The "Absher" platform is the Ministry's most prominent technological arm, having contributed over the past years to a qualitative leap in the way services are provided to citizens and residents, reducing the need to visit government branches and saving time and effort.

Details of new services: Air rifles and firearms

The launch included high-quality services relevant to a wide range of beneficiaries, including services related to air rifles. Users can now report lost or damaged air rifle licenses electronically. Additionally, a service for authorizing the carrying of a service weapon was launched through the "Absher Business" platform, and previous reports of lost or damaged licenses can now be viewed through "Absher Government," enhancing security and streamlining procedures.

Vehicle and motorcycle services

As part of its efforts to regulate the transportation and vehicle sector, the Public Security Directorate launched new services for motorcycles, including electronic authorization and ownership transfer. Services were also enhanced with new features for vehicle reports and cards, including a digital vehicle identification card and a service for reporting deregistered vehicles through the "Absher Business" platform, thus increasing transparency and reliability in vehicle-related transactions.

Organize security cameras via "Absher Business"

Given the importance of preventative security in commercial establishments, the new package includes security camera services through the "Absher Business" platform. These services allow for the issuance and review of camera installation compliance certificates, a vital step to ensure establishments adhere to approved security requirements. Compliance management and electronic reporting services have also been launched, making it easier for business owners to monitor their regulatory obligations effortlessly.

Expected impact of services

The launch of these services aims to enhance the quality of life and facilitate business operations in the Kingdom by providing fully automated and smart solutions. These initiatives underscore the Public Security Directorate's commitment to developing its technological infrastructure to serve comprehensive security needs and meet the expectations of beneficiaries by streamlining bureaucratic procedures and improving the efficiency of government performance.
