The Kingdom and 7 other countries join the Gaza Peace Council to end the conflict

In a strategic diplomatic development aimed at ending human suffering and establishing the foundations of stability in the region, the foreign ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with their counterparts in the Republic of Turkey, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, welcomed the official invitation extended to their leaders by the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, to join the “Peace Council.”.

In a joint statement, the ministers announced their countries' firm decision to join the Council, affirming that each state would immediately begin signing the accession documents in accordance with its established legal and constitutional procedures. This announcement unites efforts with those of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates, which had previously announced their accession, thus forming a strong, unified diplomatic front.

The tasks and strategic objectives of the Peace Council

The ministers reaffirmed their countries’ full and continued support for the peace efforts led by President Trump. They emphasized their unwavering commitment to supporting the implementation of the Peace Council’s mandate as a pivotal transitional body, as outlined in the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza. These actions are grounded in international legitimacy, specifically UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which provides the legal framework for these initiatives.

These efforts are primarily aimed at achieving a number of crucial objectives, foremost among them:

  • Establishing a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire will end the violence.
  • Launching an urgent and organized reconstruction process in Gaza.
  • To push for a serious political process that leads to a just and lasting peace.
  • To fulfill the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to establish their independent state in accordance with international law.

The importance of regional and international action

This declaration is of paramount importance given the political, economic, and religious weight of the participating countries. The presence of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey as major regional powers, alongside Indonesia and Pakistan as the two most populous Muslim-majority countries, gives the Peace Council unprecedented international momentum and widespread legitimacy.

The formation of this council comes at a highly sensitive time, as the region needs an effective transitional mechanism to ensure the conflict does not recur and to provide a safe environment for the flow of humanitarian aid and the commencement of infrastructure projects. This consensus also reflects the desire of the international and regional community to move beyond crisis management to a phase of fundamental resolution, thus paving the way for comprehensive security and stability for all countries and peoples of the region and closing the door to future tensions.
