Achievements of the entertainment sector in Saudi Arabia: 89 million visitors and 95% satisfaction

The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) announced in its latest annual report that it achieved unprecedented record numbers, with the number of visitors to the entertainment sector in Saudi Arabia exceeding 89 million last year. This achievement reflects the significant developmental momentum and rapid growth the sector is witnessing, within a comprehensive regulatory framework aimed at enhancing the quality of the experience, strengthening compliance, and developing related procedures to ensure the best possible services for the public.

The Journey of Transformation: From Humble Beginnings to Global Leadership

This exceptional success was not a sudden occurrence, but rather the culmination of a comprehensive transformation that began with the launch of Vision 2030. Historically, the entertainment scene in the Kingdom was limited and confined to simple events, but with the establishment of the General Entertainment Authority, the country witnessed a radical transformation. Within a few years, the Kingdom became a major attraction, with massive investments poured into developing entertainment infrastructure, attracting major international events, and building integrated entertainment cities. This historic development not only provided entertainment options for citizens and residents, but also laid the foundation for an entirely new industry that contributes to diversifying national income sources and reducing dependence on oil revenues.

Record figures reflect the growth of the entertainment sector in Saudi Arabia

The 2025 annual report revealed that the sector organized 1,690 events, totaling 75,661 event days, with the participation of 6,778 companies. The report also indicated that a total of 6,490 licenses were issued. Furthermore, 472 entertainment destinations were licensed during the year, compared to 422 in 2024, representing a 12% increase. Regarding active entertainment destinations, the number jumped to 975, compared to 513 the previous year, underscoring the growing investment appeal of the Saudi market.

Strict commitment and oversight to ensure the quality of the experience

In terms of compliance and experience quality indicators, the report showed that 92% of investors adhered to the Authority's regulations for all authorized activities, while 95% of authorized entertainment events also complied. The percentage of licensed entertainment destinations reached 93%. The sector also achieved a 65% improvement in the quality of entertainment options, and visitor satisfaction coverage reached 74%. Regarding oversight and violation reduction, the report indicated increased investor awareness and higher levels of compliance, leading to a decrease in recorded violations from 6,290 in 2024 to 4,662 in 2025, a reduction of 25.8%. This was achieved through 92,025 inspection visits covering all administrative regions of the Kingdom.

Visitor experience is at the heart of our focus

Regarding visitor experience measurement, the total number of responses to visitor satisfaction surveys exceeded 755,000. The overall satisfaction index for recreational activities recorded a 95% rating. In addition, over 9,400 field survey visits were conducted across various activities to ensure continuous evaluation, understand visitor expectations, and meet them to the highest standards.

The economic and social impact of the entertainment renaissance

The anticipated impact of this remarkable growth extends far beyond local borders, resonating regionally and internationally. Domestically, this revival is contributing to the creation of thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities for Saudi youth and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the backbone of the modern economy. Regionally, the Kingdom has become a strong competitor in attracting tourists from neighboring countries thanks to its diverse and extensive entertainment seasons. Internationally, these figures enhance the Kingdom's soft power, positioning it on the global tourism map as a safe, sophisticated destination rich in cultural and entertainment options. The General Entertainment Authority (GEA), the regulatory body for this sector, continuously works to develop the regulatory environment and empower investors, fully aligned with the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to raise the quality of life and solidify the Kingdom's position as a leading global entertainment destination.
