Mleijah Municipality's efforts to end visual pollution and plant 40,000 flowers

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing quality of life and improving the urban landscape, the Municipality of Mleijah its comprehensive achievements for the first quarter, dedicating its field and monitoring efforts to eliminating all forms of visual pollution. These efforts culminated in the planting of 40,000 seasonal flowers, lending a distinctive aesthetic character to the city's streets and squares, reflecting the commitment of the relevant authorities to providing a healthy and attractive environment for both residents and visitors.
A comprehensive development vision that enhances quality of life
These vital initiatives come within a broader context closely linked to the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, specifically the Quality of Life Program, which aims to improve the living standards of citizens and residents. Historically, the cities and governorates of the Eastern Province have witnessed radical transformations in the level of municipal services. The focus has shifted from simply providing basic infrastructure to creating integrated and sustainable urban environments that prioritize "humanizing cities" and increasing per capita green spaces, which explains the recent strong trend towards intensifying afforestation and landscaping efforts.
In this context, the mayor, Manahi bin Saeedan, explained that the ongoing development efforts have resulted in the completion of a package of vital projects that directly address the needs of the residents. These projects included painting 8,680 meters of sidewalks and installing 28 new streetlights on main and secondary roads to enhance traffic safety and the city's aesthetic appeal at night. The infrastructure work also included the construction of two public restrooms to ensure the provision of essential services for park visitors and other residents.

Intensive campaigns to address visual distortions
Regarding addressing negative aspects, official statistics revealed extensive efforts in removing construction debris and rubble covering a vast area of 5,538 square meters, in addition to removing a damaged vehicle from the city streets. Visual pollution control measures extended to erasing 30 meters of random graffiti that defaced public property, removing 8 meters of concrete barriers, and dismantling 4 meters of illegal advertising and commercial signs, restoring a more organized architectural style to the streets.
To ensure the sustainability of these gains, the Environmental Health Department intensified its oversight efforts, conducting 432 thorough inspection tours of commercial and food establishments. These tours resulted in the detection of 10 violations, reinforcing the municipality's commitment to strict adherence to regulatory and health requirements. The municipality also highlighted its deep commitment to the concept of "humanizing cities," noting the addition of 434 trees to public spaces, complementing the existing rose plantings and contributing to a more aesthetically pleasing environment. In conclusion, the mayor emphasized that these steps are part of a sustainable plan, pledging to continue launching further development initiatives that prioritize the well-being of residents.
