The Grand Mufti of Albania praises Saudi Arabia's efforts in serving the Quran and spreading moderation
The Grand Mufti of Albania and Head of the Islamic Community, Sheikh Bujar Spahiu, affirmed the pivotal and leading role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving Islam and Muslims worldwide, praising its exceptional efforts in preserving the Holy Quran and the purified Sunnah of the Prophet. This came during a press statement he made following the closing ceremony of the "National Competition for Memorizing and Reciting the Holy Quran" in the Albanian capital, Tirana.
An extension of the Kingdom's global mission
Sheikh Spahiu explained that this competition, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the Religious Attaché in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Islamic Community of Albania, is not merely a passing event, but rather an extension of the Kingdom's long-standing mission and history of supporting tolerant Islamic values. He noted that the Kingdom, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, spares no effort in supporting initiatives that strengthen Islamic identity and connect young people to the Holy Quran.
Promoting the values of moderation and balance
In discussing the importance of these events, the Grand Mufti of Albania addressed the intellectual and educational dimensions of such competitions. He emphasized that the Kingdom's efforts extend beyond memorization and recitation to include spreading the values of peace, moderation, and centrism, and combating extremist ideologies. These competitions serve as a strong bulwark for Muslim youth in the Balkans and Europe, contributing to instilling a correct understanding of Islam, free from extremism and fanaticism, thus fostering peaceful coexistence and tolerance among the diverse segments of society.

Sheikh Buyar Spahiu expressed his deep gratitude to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance for organizing this blessed competition, noting that it represents a model of fruitful and constructive cooperation between official religious institutions in the Islamic world. He added that this cooperation reflects the Kingdom's keenness to build bridges of communication with Muslims across the globe and to provide a suitable environment for competition in the noblest of fields: the field of the Holy Quran.

It is worth noting that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a long and distinguished history of serving the Holy Quran, most notably exemplified by the King Fahd Complex for Printing the Holy Quran in Medina, which distributes millions of copies annually in various languages. This is in addition to organizing international and local competitions that garner widespread global attention. The competition in Albania is part of a series of programs implemented by the Ministry abroad to reaffirm the Kingdom's leadership in the Islamic world and its role in safeguarding the true faith and promoting a culture of tolerance.
