Minister of Hajj inspects development projects in the holy sites

As part of the early and intensive preparations for the Hajj season of 1447 AH, His Excellency the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, conducted a wide-ranging field tour. This tour aimed to inspect development projects in the Holy Sites , assess the progress of ongoing work, and evaluate the operational readiness of the system to ensure the provision of the best possible services to the pilgrims.
The Kingdom's historic efforts in serving the pilgrims
Throughout history, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has given paramount importance and meticulous care to serving pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah. Since the unification of the country, the care of the Two Holy Mosques and the development of their infrastructure have been a top priority for the wise leadership. These steps today are a natural extension of this great historical legacy, as Saudi Vision 2030 seeks to bring about a qualitative leap in the Hajj experience by harnessing the latest technologies, expanding urban areas, and developing facilities to accommodate the increasing numbers of Muslims who flock from all corners of the earth to perform the fifth pillar of Islam.
Enhancing healthcare and humanizing the environment
The inspection tour included several vital projects being implemented by Kadana Development and Investment Company, the master developer and executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites. Among the most prominent of these projects is the second phase of the emergency hospital, which will have a capacity of 400 beds. This medical facility will enhance the capabilities of the healthcare system and improve the level of rapid medical response during the Hajj season.
His Excellency was also briefed on the “Humanizing the Holy Sites” project, an ambitious initiative aimed at improving the urban landscape and enhancing the quality of the spatial environment. The project focuses on addressing visual distortions and providing flexible and comfortable urban spaces based on smart solutions, directly contributing to a comprehensive and sustainable human environment befitting the sanctity of the place and meeting the needs of pilgrims.
Advanced rest areas and innovative solutions to alleviate heat stress
The tour also included a visit to the Hajj rest area project, which aims to provide well-equipped service facilities along pedestrian walkways to ease the burden of movement. The second phase of this project will see the addition of comfortable seating areas, modern shade structures, cooling fans, and commercial units covering an area of 36,000 square meters, building on the success of the first phase during the 1446 AH Hajj season.
In a proactive move to address climate challenges, the Minister inspected heat stress mitigation projects in the area surrounding Mount Arafat and the plaza adjacent to the Namira Mosque. These projects utilize advanced engineering and environmental solutions to reduce temperatures, providing a cooler and more comfortable environment for pilgrims performing their rituals at Arafat.
The global impact of successful development projects in the Holy Sites
The impact of these achievements extends beyond the local level to encompass the entire Muslim world. The success of the development projects in the Holy Sites reflects the Kingdom's exceptional ability to manage massive crowds and organize the world's largest annual human gathering with efficiency and competence. This organizational excellence reinforces the Kingdom's regional and international standing as a leading nation in crisis management and the development of smart infrastructure.
Furthermore, offering interactive and cultural experiences at sites such as the Kadana Station, the Jamarat Facility Exhibition, and the Ain Zubaydah area contributes to highlighting the historical and human dimensions of the rituals and provides enriching educational content that enhances the pilgrim's spiritual and cultural experience, allowing them to return home with unforgettable memories of their faith journey. In conclusion, these ongoing field visits underscore the wise leadership's commitment to meticulously overseeing all aspects of facilitating the Hajj pilgrimage and providing exceptional services that elevate the experience of the pilgrims to the highest international standards.
