Rain in Medina: Weather alerts and forecasts for today

The National Center for Meteorology issued important alerts today regarding the weather in the Madinah region, indicating expectations of moderate to light rainfall in a number of governorates, which calls for caution and vigilance on the part of citizens, residents and highway users.

Weather details in Al-Ula

The center explained in its daily report that Al-Ula is experiencing unstable weather conditions, characterized by moderate rainfall. The report indicated that this rainfall may be accompanied by various weather phenomena, including strong winds that could stir up dust and sand, reduce horizontal visibility to near zero, and cause hail. The center also warned of the possibility of flash floods in valleys and ravines, and the occurrence of thunderstorms, stating that this situation will continue until 6:00 PM today.

Rain in Yanbu, Khaybar and Al-Ais

In a related development, the center issued another alert indicating that the governorates of Khaybar, Al-Ais, Al-Rais, and Yanbu by light rainfall. This weather pattern will be accompanied by active surface winds, reduced horizontal visibility, and the possibility of thunderstorms. The center specified that this weather event would begin at 11:00 AM and continue until 8:00 PM.

The importance of adhering to safety instructions

Due to the geographical nature of the Madinah region, which includes numerous valleys and ravines, particularly in areas like Al-Ula and Al-Ais, flash floods pose a significant risk during rainfall. Therefore, the National Center for Meteorology reiterated its call for everyone to exercise caution, stay away from floodplains and valley bottoms, and avoid attempting to cross valleys while they are flowing.

Climate context and monitoring efforts

These weather fluctuations are part of the typical climatic patterns in Saudi Arabia during transitional periods and rainy seasons. The National Center of Meteorology uses a sophisticated system of radars and satellites to monitor these conditions with high accuracy and issue early warnings according to an automated early warning mechanism, with the aim of protecting lives and property and supporting relevant authorities in taking necessary preventative measures.

These warnings are doubly important in tourist areas such as Al-Ula, and industrial and coastal areas such as Yanbu, where the weather directly affects transportation and daily activities, highlighting the vital role of continuously monitoring official weather bulletins.
