Mecca weather today: Rain and weather warnings for several governorates

The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily weather report, warning that large parts of the Makkah region will be affected by light to moderate rainfall on Monday. This forecast comes as part of the center's ongoing monitoring of weather fluctuations across the Kingdom during this transitional period of the year.

Weather details and timings

The report indicated that the weather conditions would begin at 8:00 AM and continue until 7:00 PM. The accompanying effects include increased surface wind activity, which may stir up dust and sand in some open areas, as well as reduced horizontal visibility and the possibility of scattered thunderstorms.

The center identified the areas covered by this alert as: Khulais, Ash Shu'aibah, Bahrah, Al Jumum, Al Kamil, Al Lith, Al Qunfudhah, Jeddah Governorate, the Holy City of Mecca, and Taif . This geographical diversity, encompassing both coastal areas and mountainous regions, necessitates variations in rainfall intensity and wind speed.

Climate context and the importance of alerts

These warnings are particularly important given the geographical nature of the Makkah region, which combines humid coastlines with towering mountain ranges. At this time of year, the region often experiences atmospheric instability resulting from the convergence of air masses, leading to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds and rain. While generally light, these rains can directly impact traffic on vital highways such as the Haramain Expressway and the Al-Hada Road, necessitating caution from drivers.

On the local level, these conditions are of great importance to visitors to the Holy Mosque and pilgrims, as the rains create a special spiritual atmosphere. However, at the same time, it requires adherence to the instructions of the concerned authorities to ensure everyone’s safety and to avoid areas where water collects or flood channels in the valleys surrounding the governorates.

Weather conditions in the rest of the Kingdom

In a related context regarding the Kingdom’s weather in general for Monday, the National Center for Meteorology expected continued chances of thunderstorms accompanied by hail and active winds, not only in Mecca, but also extending to parts of the highlands of Jazan, Asir and Al-Baha , where the sky will be partly cloudy with scattered thunderstorms.

The report also indicated the possibility of fog forming during the early morning hours in parts of the Eastern Province and the northern regions of the Kingdom, which could affect horizontal visibility in those areas. The center urges everyone to follow its official platforms for real-time reports to ensure they receive accurate and up-to-date information.
