Makkah Route Initiative: Details of the Consul General's visit to the Karachi Hall

The Consul General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Karachi, Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Subaie, accompanied by the Director of Hajj in Karachi, Imtiaz Ali Shah, conducted an inspection visit to the Makkah Route Initiative at the Karachi border crossing at Jinnah International Airport in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in order to review the progress of work and services provided to the pilgrims and facilitate their spiritual journey to the Holy Land.
Exceptional efforts to facilitate the journey of pilgrims through the Makkah Route Initiative
During the visit, the two officials were briefed on the extensive efforts and advanced technical and administrative services provided by those managing the initiative. These facilities aim to streamline the travel procedures for Pakistani pilgrims from the departure airport with ease and convenience. Services include biometric data collection, electronic issuance of Hajj visas, and baggage tagging and sorting according to transportation and accommodation arrangements within the Kingdom. This ensures that pilgrims are transferred directly to their buses upon arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah or Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, which then transport them to their accommodations without any waiting.
The historical dimension and digital development of serving pilgrims
This step comes as part of the ongoing development of services provided to visitors of the Grand Mosque in Mecca. The initiative was first launched in 1438 AH (2017 CE), marking a qualitative leap in managing Hajj seasons and easing the burden on pilgrims. Since its inception, the initiative has successfully provided services to more than 1,254,994 pilgrims from various countries, reflecting the Kingdom's longstanding commitment to the care of the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, and its dedication to harnessing all available human and technological resources for their comfort and safety.
The regional and international impact of the initiative in strengthening bilateral relations
The importance of this initiative extends beyond its organizational aspects, encompassing the strengthening of diplomatic and bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the beneficiary countries, most notably the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This close cooperation contributes to building bridges of trust and mutual respect, as multiple Saudi entities participate in implementing the initiative, including the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media; the General Authority of Civil Aviation; the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority; the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA); and the Guests of God Service Program, in collaboration with the digital partner, stc Group. This highlights a unique governmental integration aimed at serving Islam and Muslims globally.
