The strength of the Kingdom's energy system: full restoration of pumping capacity

In a new achievement reflecting the strength and efficiency of national institutions, the Ministry of Energy announced the success of operational and technical efforts within the Kingdom's energy system, enabling it to overcome recent challenges affecting some vital facilities. This announcement reaffirms Saudi Arabia's commitment to maintaining the stability of global oil markets and meeting the needs of its customers without interruption, through a swift and effective response to any emergencies that may impact supplies.
Details of the technical achievement and resumption of operations
Further to previous statements regarding the impact on some of the Kingdom's energy infrastructure facilities due to attacks that resulted in the loss of approximately 700,000 barrels per day of pumping capacity through the East-West pipeline, a decrease in production from the Manifa field by approximately 300,000 barrels per day, and disruptions to production at the Khurais field, efforts have been fully successful. The full pumping capacity of the East-West pipeline, amounting to approximately seven million barrels per day, has been officially restored. The affected production volumes from the Manifa field have also been fully recovered within a short period. Regarding the Khurais field, engineering and technical work is ongoing to restore full production capacity, and an announcement will be made as soon as all operational processes are completed.
The strategic importance of the East-West pipeline
The East-West pipeline, also known as Petroline, is a vital artery in the Kingdom's and the world's energy system. This strategic pipeline stretches from the oil-rich Eastern Province to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea coast. Its historical and geopolitical significance lies in its ability to transport enormous quantities of crude oil, bypassing sensitive maritime straits such as the Strait of Hormuz. Restoring its full capacity of 7 million barrels per day ensures the continued flow of Saudi oil to European and American markets safely and reliably, thus mitigating the geopolitical risks associated with maritime transport.
The resilience of the Kingdom's energy system and crisis management
This rapid and remarkable recovery reflects the high operational resilience and exceptional crisis management capabilities of Saudi Aramco and the Kingdom’s energy sector. Historically, the Kingdom has demonstrated its remarkable ability to address various security and technical challenges facing the oil sector. The existence of robust contingency plans, advanced infrastructure, and a highly qualified national workforce enabled the sector to contain and repair damage in record time. This level of preparedness sends a strong message of reassurance to investors and international partners that Saudi supplies are secure and capable of a swift recovery.
Positive impact on the local and global economy
The impact of this achievement extends beyond the local level to encompass the entire global economy. The stability of the Kingdom's energy system serves as a safeguard for the international economy, as the continuous flow of oil contributes to price stability and mitigates the economic shocks that could result from supply shortages. Domestically, this success bolsters investor confidence in the Saudi economy and supports the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to enhance the sustainability and reliability of vital sectors. The continued efficient operation of these sectors ensures the flow of national revenues and supports the country's comprehensive development.
