the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival 2025 , organized by the Saudi Falcons Club witnessed great momentum and fierce competition among falconers, as the largest number of participating falcons was recorded in one day since the start of the current edition, with the participation of 367 falcons distributed across 9 qualifying rounds for local owners.
The importance of the event and its global standing
This overwhelming turnout further solidifies the festival's position as the world's largest gathering of falcons, a title it has earned and entered the Guinness World Records multiple times. The festival is a prominent cultural and sporting event that reflects the depth of Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage. The Kingdom places great importance on falconry as an integral part of its cultural identity and intangible heritage, recognized by UNESCO. Held at the club's headquarters in Mulham (north of Riyadh), the festival aims to preserve this heritage and pass it on to future generations, as well as support falconers and encourage investment in the field.
Details of the fifth day's competitions
The fifth day's rounds included various categories including "Pure Gyr" (chick and adult), "Gyr Shaheen" (chick), two rounds for "Gyr Shaheen" (adult), in addition to 4 rounds for the two "Gyr Tabaa" categories, with two rounds for the chick and two for the adult.
Gear Pure category results
In the “Pure Gyrfalcon Chick” category, falconer Osama bin Thunayyan secured first place with his falcon (Gentle), followed by Abdullah Ghanem Al-Dosari with his falcon (A3), and then Hamad Mohsen Al-Marri with his falcon (Al-Muhadhab). In the “Pure Gyrfalcon Adult” category, Dhafer Salem Al-Marri claimed first place with his falcon (Al-Mared), Abdullah Al-Ajmi came in second with (Al-Muhami), and Fahd Al-Quraini finished third with (Sultan).
Results of the Gyrfalcon category
In the third round of the “Gyr Shaheen Farakh” category, Saleh Al-Mutairi won first place with his falcon “Wanix,” Yasser Al-Mutairi came in second with “Kroushan,” and Nahed Al-Dosari finished third with “Wanqa.” In the “Qarnas” category, Hamad Abdulmohsen Al-Marri topped the first round with his falcon “96,” while Saud Al-Duaij won the second round with his falcon “Sun.”.
Dominance in the rounds of the following generation
The competitions concluded with the “Jir Tabaa” rounds, where Khalid Al-Buainain secured first place in the first round for young falcons with his falcon “Farouq,” and Khalid Al-Hajri won the second round with his falcon “K3.” In the adult falcon category, Hamad bin Musli Al-Qahtani claimed first place in the first round with his falcon “Nimrod,” while Fahd Al-Nassar snatched first place in the second round with his falcon “Al-Saab.”.
Huge prizes and ongoing support
It is worth noting that the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival 2025 will continue until January 10, 2026, and will feature 139 rounds across the Al-Malwah and Al-Mazayin competitions, with total prizes exceeding 38 million Saudi Riyals. These prizes will be distributed among 1,012 winners, making it the strongest economic driver for the falconry sector in the region, attracting elite falconers, both professionals and amateurs, as well as local and international owners.
